there are many things mastering does. It will cover eq, track transitions, volume of tracks ect. There are compressors/gates designed for specific parts of your music like bass. It all starts with a good clean mix though. Mastering can do wonders.........

He's right a good final mix can be A plus with proper mastering. id advise to either know how to mix em down good yourself or use somebody that really knows how to do it. if u want the best final product

Well, I mix and master tracks all day long. Having a clean mix is a MUST if you plan on using the song for commercial purposes. You can't have horrible quality and a bad mix and expect mastering to save your project. Your song must be mixed with no distortion and that is the stage any cleanup to your vocals would be done (static, background noise, etc...). Then once your mix is distortion free and the volume levels are all perfect you can master the track to max out all the levels and really bring out the loudness. If you need someone to do it for you hit me up or check out the website... www.ogdogg.com
