It would seem that Gangsta Dre is a Siccness favorite. What's special to you about Inner City Poet? Or maybe you don't like it, all replies are welcome.
Not really a fan of the album, but What A Tangled Web We Weave, Dedication To All Hogg Niggas, If U Fuckin U Suckin, and Raw Deal were all dope tracks.
@ Lu_ , Me and you usually have similar taste in these Sac threads, but not so much for this album.
To me the album is unique to for Sacramento rap and the album itself is a mixed bag as well.
I don't really know shit about production and mixing. But on the title track, I could say yeah there's a lot of layers to that beat that might be fucking up the way it sounds on some peoples CD players.
Don't get me wrong, the album is still tight, but I can't put it in the same league as Gang Bangin Poetry. Besides the songs mentioned, I thought the production was quite average on the rest of the album.
i think its way better then gang bangin poetry all the song you can listen to his growth as an artist and inner city poet, raw deal, sitting on the edge of curb, early bird gets the word come on that whole shit slaps ahead of it time
For me, this album came at the right time in my life. When I got the album I could get stuck on some old teenage feeling sorry for myself bullshit so I could relate, I was listening to it steadily. Plus I usually gravitate towards more of a mellow, player sound --even depressing type rap moreso than live party music. I liked " Close to da end" "sittin by the edge of the curb" and "let it rain" . I might say I value honesty in lyrics more than sensationalism.
I'd say C.O.S takes a page from this album to inspire his style of music, as far as the lyrical content goes and bringing light to struggle and pain, and I fuck with that.
And to reiterate my point about honest lyrics.
I liked this song off My crazy Life
It's rare for dudes especially rappers to talk about a girl playing them. Seems more REAL to me.

this is my favorite sac album. the rawness of it , the realness.. dre was spittin from the heart on alot of tracks. his flow was rediculous. the mix and quality didnt bother me on this one because the music was so good. .
Might have said this before but i found this in the 99 cent bin @ the warehouse, My wife was dieing from lupus and i swear this album keep me strong and got me thru some tuff times!!! and i still play it till this day..Plus i turned on about 50 folks to this album...That's one the best sac albums EVER!!!!! IMO
absolute classic...one of a kind piece of work....so diff from gbp...and thats whats so impressive...he went from being a dope one dimensional teenager to mature artist with great range in only a couple years..not too mention he was still a teenager lol
