It doesnt really mean anything to me.. I mean there shouldn't be
an age limit to doing something you love.. but it could effect sales..

Nothing...what wrong with being 30? As long as the music is tight, age wouldn't play a role...damnn its all about the music. You have other musicians in other genres that are legends in their music when they were young and old. Remember its music plain and simple...just my opinion.

I was gonna say something along those same lines. Music doesn't have an age limit...you can start as a child, and stop when you die. It's the maturity in the music that matters. If a 35 year old is still rappin' about holdin' down the block, kickin' it with the lil' homies, doin' dirt, droppin E, and not handlin' his business as a MAN...then it's old shit and nobody will cop it.

Dr. Dre still raps, isn't he 40 or so now? He keeps goin' because he speaks on how things have changed with him over the years. Granted, he does some party shit here and there, but who doesn't like a good party?? If a rapper is a man about his, handles his business, and doesn't act like a 20 year old...there should be no problems.

2 very excellent points.

I used to semi-trip off the same issue of age when I realized all my favorite rappers were gettin' older, either in their late 20's or hittin' their 30's. I was thinkin' 'what...you only get a 10 year run?'. But like playin' sports or any other career, it depends on the person.

Some rappers mature & evolve into even a more potent lyricist...

some just get by...

either way...

I don't match age up with my favorite artists...

I probably would think that I wouldn't want to listen to a 40 year old rapper.

but yet I'm impatiently waiting on the DR. DRE or a RAKIM album.

AGE AIN'T NOTHIN' BUT A NUMBER.
and whose counting?...

Who the fuk cares how old a rapper is as long as the product is clean...most heavy hittin rappers already in they 30's or close to it...but it would be refreshing to get younger talent repping hard for what they beleive in and watch their careers grow like how a young snoop, JT, fat joe and so on did...tired of all these new flavor of the month emcees hang around for a year or two then spawn a new batch

I pretty much agree with all the replies in this thread.

The thing to really think about is: Who said rap music should have an age limit?

2Pac died at age 25 and pretty much set that type of mind frame IMO. The way he flauted being young etc etc, but failed to realize those that came BEFORE (key word) and paved the way were also youngsters (17 through 21) when they were being heard on radio stations across this country. The likes of LL Cool J being one of the major factors in this Game (like him or not).

Picture Snoop Dogg dying right after he droppped "Doggystyle." People would have never seen Snoop grow in this music business (whack or not...this is not about that), and continue to do his thang in it.

Jay Z, Nas, Dr. Dre, 50 Cent, P. Diddy and the list goes on...

and like most replies: If the music is still HOT and you enjoy doing what you doing...

no reason to stop because society say's so...be a menace!
