I always seem to create in cycles. I'll make some real slump for a few days at a time and then I cant come up with shit for a day or two, sometimes a week or longer. What do yall do to get inspired and get yourself back on track when you get on some shit like that? So far all I can do is wait, I havent really figured anything out to get out of them writer's block phases yet.

^yup thats a good idea, you can't force the creative process so might as well occupy yourself with something else till you get the juices flowing. Mixing is as much a part of production as making a beat itself, just as much skill and creativitity is involved with both.

yes true. learn to mix or mix up some of your old tracks, if u have an imagination, improvistion will play apart while mixing or new ideas. thats how it is for me, but then again u are getting advice from sum1 that aint made a new beat in like 2-3weeks haha lmfao.

my life situation is probably way different then mine, so i dont think my advice will help u as much. you cant be around hella negativity, be around people who gives off good vibes, kind of hard for me to explain, but what ever you do, dont rush it. hell you kno what? u can always donate your equipment to me for a few weeks and take a vacation ; )
Haha, I'm probably doin my beats on the same shit you are. I'm fuckin wit FL5. I used to hate the shit outta fruity loops until I learned how to use it. I still aint feelin the computer keyboard instead of a regular piano keyboard shit but for whatever reason the joystick port where I plug the MIDI keyboard in aint workin so fuck it i gotta use what I got. It is a quite a few steps down from the Fantom and the ASR 10 that I used to use but hell I aint complainin too much. You can do some good shit on there with a little patience. I think the mixing idea that yall mentioned is probably the best thing to do, especially since I'm just learning about compressors and various other effects. Its makin my shit sound 100 times better. And by the way, after I did some mixing on some of my other beats I knocked out another hit in about 15 minutes. next thing you know I'll be like Rick Rock gettin 20grand for 8 minutes of work. haha, no harm in dreamin right?

^^^Couple questions. What is rewiring, and what makes using something rewired any different than just using it alone? And what vst's do you got? I got a few as well, maybe we can trade or at least you can point me in the right direction as far as which ones I should get. Oh yeah, and which program do you prefer, Sonar or Cubase? I've heard good things about both.

You have to figure out what feeds your creativity and inspires you to work. For me it's simply going back to listening to music as a fan instead of someone who does it for a living. There's been times when I've completely removed myself from music for a minute so the next time I hit the studio, I'm all the way ready to tear it down.

About rewiring... It's just a means to stream audio back & forth between two programs. Also, don't use something just because somebody else does. Use whatever suits your needs and you're comfortable working with.

as far as i know FL doesnt distort the sound in any way, what it does it has teh volume lower than most other pograms. but that can easily be fixed by turning it up, its only the starting position of the volume thats a little lower.

Damn near any time I use any vst or plug in on more than one track it gets hella distorted, I dont know if its just somethin with my computer or if its somethin in the program, but thats what happens to me.
