What bothers me about religious people...

I'll start by saying Im not religious at all, my beliefs are based on science. Anyway, it bothers me that a lot of religious people try to force thier beliefs on you. If I had a bumper sticker that said "Satan loves you", fools would be hella offended (im not satanic, just an eg.). It is offensive to me, to have a sticker saying "Jesus Loves You", or to have those damn fish on the back of your car. That shit is always on some car going hella slow too. I respect those that have thier beliefs and dont force them on others and shove them in others faces. I'd never try and convince a religious person that Jesus and God dont exist, and I expect that they wouldnt try and convince me the opposite.

Last weekend some women buzzed my apartment and got me out of bed. I hollared at them over the intercom, because I wasnt expecting anybody, they said they wanted to talk to me about the lord. I was hella pissed they woke me up for this, but mostly because they were trying to force thier beliefs on me.

I wanna say that I have nothing against those that are religious, I respect peoples beliefs. I just expect other people to respect my beliefs that Im not into religion.

3.these people feel they were doing GOD (I DONT KNOW WHICH ONE) A SERVICE so i dont think they were being disrespectful.

if you didnt want to listen to it 6 words would have sent them walking and banging on another door.

ok my "average" bed time is 2:30 am. thats the time im usually shutting down and going to bed. on days that i go to sleep at 4 5 or 6 am i sleep really late. lets say a mormon comes by. does he know im still in the bed and its past 12? now if these cats came by at 4 5 or 6 maybe 7 in the morning............

i cant speak for them. i can speak for ME. i would WELCOME it. just like i welcome the "jehovas" and the "mormons". no need for me to get upset. discuss the topic with them,show them how it doesnt seem right and send them on there way.

which is why im not a "religious" person.

I realize these people believe they are doing god a service. I was polite when I told them I wasnt interested, but the fact that they are walking around and buzzing every apartment in my building on the chances that someone wants to listen is ignorance on thier part. There are many ways I could learn about other religions if I chose too. I could go to church, the library or look it up on the web. I dont think its necessary to bother people when they are going about thier daily business. I feel the same way about someone selling something over the phone or door to door.

how did they infringe on your freedoms? did they deprive you of anything other than sleep? did they willingly know/do this?????? i think its GREAT that someone would would talk to a total stranger. i talk to total strangers all the time. i can be walking down the street and see a female.......guess what........im gonna talk to her. doesnt mean im goign to get at her. it means i am comfortable with people.

i can be standing in line at a grocery store. an older guy can be in front of me. i will ask him "what do you know about the trilatiral commision and the bilderbergers?" consider it a GOOD thing......that people are CONCERNED about you to even KNOCK on your door. especially in these times. it seems everyone is self self self. me me me.

see it doesnt bother me one bit and i encourage people to come to my door. from black muslims to mormons they have all came here and left with MORE KNOWLEDGE than what they came with. you have to remember this.

1.these people feel that they are doing what is right. they believe in going door to door "EVANGELIZING".

keep that in mind.

It doesnt bother you to have people come to your door, but It does bother me. I am a private person, and I do not wish to be bothered.

I was always told that it is rude to bring up religion and politics in casual conversation. Everyone has thier own strong opinionated views on these topics. For them to come to my door pushing thier beliefs is rude in my opinion. I think they should respect others privacy by NOT going door to door.

everyone has thier own personal feelings as far as religion goes. They are not knocking on my door for a casual conversation about religion. They are knocking at my door with the hopes of converting me to thier religion. That is thier ultimate goal whether it goes that far or not. This is not showing respect to my personal beliefs. They know when they knock that I will have my own opinions as far as religion goes. They dont care what my thoughts are though, thier way is the right way and in thier eyes I am going straight to hell unless they can convert me to thier religion.

They do not need to know my personal beliefs to disrespect them. If your favorite color was blue and Im telling you I think your fav color should be yellow, and yellow is the way to go and all other colors besides yellow are un-important, I wouldnt be respecting your choice in enjoying blue.

You are right about me not knowing about thier doctrines. I dont care to know thier doctrines and this is why I was annoyed by them coming to my door in the first place. As far as not knowing how to deal with people knocking at my door, that is an unfair statement. I do not wish to have a conversation about religion with everyone that comes soliciting. I dont tell the woman down the block to get lost when she is canvassing for cancer research.

Sup yall, I'm mormon, and mormons do much door knockin', LOL.

Anyways, they're not trying to 'force' their religion on you. They're trying to share what they feel is a very good thing with you, because they feel it's what god would want. I can't speak for jehovah's, because i've never met one. I would assume they think similarly, though.

If you don't want to talk, just say your'e not interested. Please believe, it happens at least half the time. The people they're looking for are people that are interested in talking about religion. Ultimately, yes, they would like to convert you to their religion, because they feel it's right. However, if you aren't 100% positive you want to convert, that's o.k. too. You don't have to, and they sure wouldn't want you to do something you don't wanna do. Basically they're looking for people who are confused about which christian religion to join, and i'm not kidding. Tons of people are confused about which christian religion is the 'true' one, so they're searching for an answer. For them, mormons sometimes have the answer that seems right to them. Muslims, Sikh's, etc. usually are very open minded about listening to the pitch, but don't believe Jesus was the saviour, so usually don't convert. The missionaries always talk to them anyways. I know muslims and sikhs who love to talk about the similarities in our religions, and I don't get mad that they don't want to go get baptised, LOL. That's fine.

BTW, like Heresy said, you can be saved after you die, I'm quite positive Muhammad and Ghandi etc. are all in heaven. You don't go to hell just because you're not mormon.

I guess what i'm trying to say is, if you don't like them knocking on your door, just put a note up, they won't disrespect it. Or, you could cuss them out, and they'll put you on a list of 'don't visit' addresses.
