Bay Area duo Mac & AK have recently released their album "Hustle Music Vol. 1." The album is twenty-one tracks deep, all of them produced by Mac Pacino with the exception of one. That one was produced by his brother AK but was co-produced by Mac. If you've never heard any Mac Pacino beats before, then you haven't heard any bangin beats before. And this album proves just how sicc they really are. The album's hott from beginning to end. Not only the beats but Mac & AK both come vicious on the mic, as do the features on this album: The Game, Sean T, Young Noble, Mr. Kee, Lil Ric, Laroo, Chunk, Ghazi, D-Moe and a few more.
My favourite track on this album is "Dirty Jersey 2 E.P.A." featuring Young Noble of the Outlawz. The beat on this track is vicious as hell. It's gets ya pumped up just listening to it. Mac & AK rip the mic raw as does Young Noble. I'd like to see more collaborations between them in the future.
"Let Em Know" is another tight junt. It did take me a few listens to get into the beat though, but now that I am, I can't stop bumpin this track. Mac & AK flow nicely over it, coming vicious-like on the mic. This track will also be featured on the WestSideRap.com Mixtape Volume 1: Independent Overdose.
In my opinion, two of the most underrated rappers in the Bay are Lil Ric & Laroo. Both of them are featured on the track "Straight Hogz" and this collabo is bomb. Another gem of a beat by Mac Pacino. All four of the rappers come hard on this track. Lil Ric stuck-out in my opinion though, he's got a smooth flow and delivery was is right on.
Another collaboration I liked was with Aftermath/G Unit artist The Game. I didn't like it as much as the last one but it was still pretty tight. AK killed the hook, that's probably the most aggressive I've heard him on the entire album. He also laid a hott verse down as well, as did Mac & The Game.
Their's twenty-one tracks on this album, eleven of them being collaborations. The majority of them I was really into. Tracks like "California Lifestyle" featuring Money Mont & G-Dub, "Real Live..." with Sean T & D-Moe, "The Struggle" featuring Top Dog Vanzetti and more showed Mac & AK's flexibility as artists and being able to work with many different artists and have each style compliment the rest. Next I'd like to see them work with more artists outside of their region, like Southern California.
Their were ten solo junts on here as well, including the Intro. The "Intro (Hustle 101)" was probably the best way to start the album off. It's only one verse over a tight beat but both were sicc. "Oh No!," "When Times Get Hard" and "Pray For Me" are just three of the solo tracks that are on this album. All three were steady knockin with tight flows by the twin brothers.
Overall, this album should be in everyone's cd collection. Their were a few joints that I wasn't feelin but you get that with every album. The features were tight as well as most the solo tracks. Mac & AK have got some heat with this album. So much so that I'm already anticipating their next one.
