Eastside Muzik Inc artist Juice aka The Sun God recently released his debut album "The Sunrise." The album features Bullet, Baby Bash, Assassin, Young Droop, Jay Tee (N2Deep), Frost, Todd G and more. On production, Juice has beats from Big Ice & Oral Bee, Assassin, Bill Yuns, J.R. and The NorthWest Kings.
Jazz is featured on the first track "Chasin' Dreamz." J.R. supplied the beat for this track which is set at a slow mellow pace. Jazz comes through with a nice hook. Juice on the otherhand, I wasn't really feeling. His rapping was too fast. It really didn't suit beat.
"On The Road" features an all-star line-up of guests: Bullet, Baby Bash, Todd G and Jazz. Bullet delivers the first verse followed by Baby Bash, Todd G and finally Juice. Jazz hits the hook again, and again the hook sounds dope. The beat is courtesy of the Playboy Foundation (Big Ice & Oral Bee). This is one of my favourite joints on the album. Juice really held his own with the others on this track. I liked Bullet's verse on here the best though, he shined the brightest.
Assassin produced and dropped a verse on the track "Bitchez Ain't Shit." Young Droop and Bullet also appear on this joint as does Jazz again on the hook. Once again, the hook is solid. I'm really impressed by Jazz, he's got a real smooth voice and comes tight on everything that I've heard from him so far. Again, this is one of my favourite joints on the album. Young Droop comes first, followed by Assassin, then Bullet and finally Juice. I've heard Young Droop come tighter than he did on this joint but still it was a solid verse. Assassin, Juice and especially Bullet ripped the beat to shreds. Again, Juice holds his own with the others.
"It Ain't Over (Eastside Riderz Pt. 3)" features Bullet, Hypnotiq, Bill Yuns, Kay Kay and Jazz. A dope beat produced by J.R., again, a slower paced beat. This is another track that I was feeling. Everybody came tight on this one. Bullet ripped it, Hypnotiq came dope, as did Bill Yuns, Kay Kay and Juice. Another nice hook from Jazz tops this track off nicely.
"NorthWest 2 The Bay" features Assassin and the 4 Young Ridaz. I like this track even though it was missing something. It was missing one more artist from the Bay. Especially since Assassin only had a small part on it. He did however lace the beat, one of the tightest on this album.
Juice ends the album with the instrumental and acapella of versions "Sexy Mamacita (remix)." I'm not feeling this idea. Nothing against the song as the song is good but I don't see the purpose of putting them on an official release. They should be put on a cd single or an EP, not a full length album.
"Sexy Mamacita," Thank U Mama" and "Last Night" were other tracks I was feeling. I'm impressed with Juice on this release as I hadn't heard more than one verse from him in the past and didn't know what to expect from this album. But after listening to it many times, I've come to the conclusion that this is a heated debut release. The features on the album were tight but Juice was not overshadowed by them, he held his own. The production was solid for the most part. Not really too much to complain about considering it's his first release. I'm definately looking forward to hearing more music from him in the future. definately support juice by copping this album, he's an up-and-coming NorthWest artist with real potential.
