Last month Ocean Records released a compilation entitled "Inde Sessions Vol. 1." It's filled with NorthWest artists such as Skuntdunanna, Wojack, Mr. Dog, Mac Money, Young Have Not, Funk Daddy and Bill Yuns just to name a few. It also features artists from other cities around the U.S. such as Al Tariq, Krumbsnatcha, Ab Normal and more.
Wojack starts the album off with "The Beat Box," a short but dope track/intro. It showcases his beat boxing skills, something I'd like to hear more of from him.
The most anticiaped track on this release in my eyes was Mr. Dog, Mac Money and Young Have Not's "Get It Craccin." Mr. Dog & Mac Money are both part of Bow Wow Records while Young Have Not is an up-and-coming artist who's really been making a name for himself over the last lil while. The beat on this track was dope. In fact, a lot of the beats on this album I liked. Unfortunately no production credits were given in the cd jacket. I was feelin all the artists on this track but mac Money a lil more than the other two. He really came vicious on this track.
From Croydon Pennsylvania, Split has one of the deepest joints on this album. It's called "All Day." The beat is real tight and Split spit's over it nicely. He goes throughout the track talking about his life, his mistakes... basically, the just the way he lives it. A decent track overall.
"Makin Moves" from Funk Daddy featuring Willin is a hott track. I'm assuming Fuck Daddy did the beat but I'm not positive. Nevertheless, I'm feeling it. I can definately see this joint bumpin in the local nightclubs. It's one of my favourite joints on this album.
Seattle artists Bill Yuns and Mycle are all over the dope joint "Bread & Meat." The beat was one of my least favourite on here but nonetheless, Bill Yuns came dope and did his best over it. I was also feeling Mycle on the hook. After hearing him, I would've liked to hear him drop a verse on the song, I think he could've ripped it.
Skuntdunanna and Wanz close out the compilation with their joint "All I Got." Skunt's one of the premier NorthWest artists in my eyes, at least up-and-coming that it. His last album was sicc and he's part of the much anticipated group "Lac Of Respect." A good Skunt track this is but it was released on his last solo album as well.
Divine MC's track "So Beautiful" was another one that was sicc. As was Prophetix's joint "T.U.G. (True Urban Grit)" and "So Freaky" by Strik & Krusal featuring J1. Infact, there were only a few tracks that I wasn't feeling.
I haven't heard too much music from the NorthWest at this point because I've just recently been getting into the scene. However, I do know that a couple of these songs have been released before and have been told that some of the others have been also. But nonetheless, it's a heated project. If you haven't heard these tracks already, you should definately pick it up.
7.5/10
