WSR: What it is J.Cin. You wanna introduce yourself to all the folx out their and let them know where you're from.

Alright, J.Cin is just a different way to spell my name... CIN is for the shit I've done in tha past. I'mma sav from San Diego, simple & plain.

WSR: Born & raised in San Diego?

Born yes, raised til I was like 12 then moved to Mass for a lil while. Now I'm back where I belong.

WSR: When did you decide you wanted to get into this industry and was their anyone who helped influence you?

I wanted to get in this industry 4 awhile, then in like 94 or 95 when Silas moved back from Sac to SD I just started working with him hella much. Sic Related Individuals (Silas, Steezo, C.Gigolo) influenced me a lot to rap, they taught me what I know.

WSR: Well let's talk about Smigg for a moment. Smigg's your cousin. Him & I-Rocc got The Bluez Brotherz album dropping this year but their's another album coming out soon under the same name. You've shown you're displeasure in this by recording a diss track to C-Lim, Main 1 & J-Locc. Talk about that for a moment.

Haha, yeah... it ain't really like beef you know. It's basically the fact of they disrespecting Smigg & Rocc. They knew they was doing the album but they had to make one as well? C'mon now! That's why I called it "Whos Who" cause C-Lim don't know who he is, so he's stealing someone elses persona. I did the track to make it known that they ain't the Bluez Brotherz and they won't be regardless.

WSR: Any idea when the album is gonna drop? I-Rocc & Smig's that is?

They finishing it up now. Shit gonna have people jumpn for it. I heard some of it when I was witg Smigg like 2 weeks ago. Shit's smashin, C-Bo Presents The Bluez Brotherz.

WSR: Do you know if it'll be dropping before the other one? Are they tryna release it before the other Bluez Brotherz album or is that not a concern to them?

That ain't a concern to them, as far as I know. They ain't worried about it, they gonna blow em out the water anyways you feel. It's nothing, people know who the real ones are anyways.

WSR: What's you situation right now, label-wise?

Right now, i'm fuckin with The A-Team, which is Silas's label. And me and the homie J-Law might get something crackin, but right now I'm ridin wiht the A-Team til the end of it, it's all fam.

WSR: Speaking of J-Law, you and him have a compilation in the works right now. What can you tell me about that?

Right now me and him working on the compilation "Wut Liez Beneath." We tryna bring the west & midwest more close with this album. He got hella KC cats and I'm getting the Cali dudes. So far our roster for this one gonna be heaters all the way. We still working shit out for distribution and everything.

WSR: Who are some of the artists featured on it and any idea when it'll be dropping or is it still to early to say.

So far we got Seven, I-Rocc, The Popper, Silas, NBD, The A-Team, Game Insane, Mastamind, R.Beta & Sidewayz Ent, Hobotone, Mac Lethal, Young Fierce, Nefew, James Christos, Jack D., Grant Rice... and rite now we talking with Killa Tay, Fat Tone, Ecay Uno, Bop & Luni Coleone.

WSR: That does sound dope.

WSR: You were also talking about doin a comp with Mackvillin called "Dagos Finest." What's the latest on that?

I don't even know right now homie, I ain't spoke to Mack in a minute. We'll see though, maybe in the future.

WSR: Let's speak on ya debut solo coming out "God's Gift." How's that coming along?

It's coming along alright for right now, not too much happening with it right now. It's gonna be fire though when it does drop, the production on it is nice as fuck. I'm trying to get my features set up cause most of the solos is done.

WSR: Who you working with for production? And any idea when it'll be dropping?

No idea when it'll be dropping cause the A putting hella shit out. But for production I got JBoog, a 16 yr old beast on the keyboard, Steezo, I did 1 track and I'mma try to get beats from Ecay & Bay Loc.

WSR: What is it that we can expect from the album? What do you want the listener to get from it while listening to your music?

What to expect, my album is different shit, you won't ever hear another 18 year old spitting the way I do. I want the listeners just to be able to relate to a lot of my life & the shit I'm doing. I want these cats to know they don't want war, they don't wanna battle, they dont wanna fuck with me & the A-Team, we are the future of music.

WSR: What other projects are you involved in right now besides the ones we talked about already?

Umm... I'm on the "1-900-Talkin-Dirtee" mixtape ("Imma" & "Dirtee Boi Remixx"). Also... the A-Team is doing shit on I-Rocc's album & Silas' new solo. Plus I'm doing shit for mixtapes and such.

WSR: Let's talk abut San Diego for a moment. It's got one of the hottest underground scenes along the West Coast right now. Their's alotta artists that are coming up and doing some real things. What's your opinion on the scene right now?

San Diego is about 2 go big! But people ain't ready for us yet. We got so much talent down here. I think we got some of the hardest rappers to touch a mic... hard lyrics. Shit, we got Bay Loc, Ecay Uno, The A-Team, I-Rocc, Sidewayz Ent (FREE R.BETA!!!), Mitchy Slick, Cricet, Damu, Lil C.S. & Ghetto World, Big June, Mackvillin, Mary Jane Junkeez... so many I can't even name all the talent in dago right now.

WSR: Who do you think is at the top of the San Diego rap scene right now and why?

Bay Loc, dude is all sav. His shit is so raw, people definately ain't ready for him. Ecay Uno, one of the truest rappers I've ever heard & had the pleasure of meeting in my life. CeeWee3, dude is gangsta when he spits, it's crazy. And of course Smigg, Rocc, ya know... and the Junkeez.

WSR: When speaking of the California rap scene, San Diego always seems to get looked over. Ya think of California rap music, ya think of LA and even the Bay Area. Why do you think that is and what does San Diego have to do to get the exposure they deserve on a bigger scale?

The way I see it is LA got mainly big from Dre & the NWA cats you feel? And the Bay getting good ass promotion out there. Dago needs 1 or 2 dudes to go big & good promotion then we'd be set, but like I said, people ain't really ready for Cali still... but 2004's our year.

WSR: I wanna ask you about your name. You go by the name J.Cin Compton aka JJ Da Babay. For while you were going by Cin Laden. You already explained how you came up with J.Cin but what about the other names? What's the meaning behind them?

Cin Ladin was more of a battle dude, a different personality, I don't use that one anymore. JJdaBABAY has been the name I've had since I first started rapping and it just stuck with me I guess.

WSR: Did anyone give you that name or did you come up with it yourself?

Silas gave me JJdaBABAY cause I was like 9 and my first & middle initials are J's.

WSR: You're 18, still young. Short term goal, let's say 5 years from now, where do you see yourself?

In 5 years I see myself making money, cause I don't care if I'm famous, money is what I want and I'm still gonna be rapping and doing what I do.

WSR: What about long term? 10 - 12 years from now.

I can see myself sav'd out, still rapping but a name. Not just another rapper rapping, I'mma have a name, I'mma be somebody cats wanna buy every album I drop.

WSR: J.Cin, I wanna thank you for doing this interview mayne. Any final words before we wrap this up?

Thank you for doing this interview. All I wanna say is watch out for The A-Team album, Silas' "God Made Dirt", Yukmouth Presentz I-Rocc "Center of Attention", "Wut Liez Beneath", "Gods Gift." PUT CHA A's UP!!!!
