Two hardcore gangsta rappers go at it in this one... Vallejo's Mac Dre goes up against Oakland's Spice 1.

IMPORTANT NOTE: I WILL ONLY BE COUNTING THE VOTES IN THE ACTUAL POLL ITSELF! EVEN IF YOU TYPE OUT THEIR NAMES IN THE REPLY, YOUR VOTE STILL WOULDN'T BE COUNTED BECAUSE I WILL ONLY BE LOOKING AT THE RESULTS FROM THE POLL.

Mac Dre for sure. Why?

Even though Spice 1 has probably been the best 'rapper' on the mic over the years than Dre, in the overall scheme, Mac Dre is a much better 'artist'. With just as many years under his belt (well, almost), a constant changing of styles and personalities, and his current 'presence' in the rap game, Mac Dre has surpassed a new level in the bay area rap scene (to an extent, im not saying hes going to ever blow up or anything, just saying he is more than a rapper to most now). Especially with his DVD out now, people are cracking the fuck up and understanding just how funny that fool is.

Spice 1's CD's are probably just as good as Dre's, with some even more classic shit from Spice's part, but it has always felt like Spice never really 'interacted' or 'was present' in the bay area rap scene for long periods of time. It was like... drop a CD, wait 1-2 years, drop a CD and repeat.

But overall this shit is going to be close, both are bay area legends to most.

Psilo's post basically says it all, but another thing that I think should be added is that MD has done a better job in developing different styles over the years. Dreezy can do the Gangsta shit, but he can also party, do old school boasting, funny songs, introspective songs and even make you dance. As much as I like Spice, he seems stuck in "I'm gonna pull out my gat and blow your head off" mode, which works when he gets good production (his first three solos and the CRIMINALZ project), but otherwise, it's hit or miss (1990-SICK and the solos thereafter).

Another imporant thing is this: even when an MD record isn't that good, it's still at least fun and entertaining. But when a Spice 1 record isn't that good, you're just bored and disgusted. So right now, I would say that for overall work, Dreezy gets my vote. YEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

PEACE
