BRIDGEFEST 2004 IS FRIDAY, JULY 2
West Sacramento, Calif. - West Sacramento’s free fireworks spectacular—“BridgeFest”— returns
for the eighth year, Friday, July 2. The prime viewing area is the 540-foot Daniel C. Palamidessi Bridge,
connecting the north and south areas of the city. First held in 1997 to celebrate the bridge’s completion,
BridgeFest annually attracts the largest turnout of West Sacramento residents for any single event. The
bridge closes to vehicle traffic at 5:30 p.m.
Spectators are requested to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets. The popularity of BridgeFest
has raised new challenges in safety and maintenance of the event sight. Therefore, the following conditions
require the cooperation of spectators:
· No glass containers will be allowed;
· Please keep the area clean—use the nearest trash receptables;
· To provide access for emergency vehicles, the east sidewalk of the Palamidessi Bridge will be
closed to the public; and
· Personal possession and use of fireworks is illegal in West Sacramento.
The fireworks will begin once the sky reaches maximum darkness, approximately 9:30 p.m.
Beforehand, however, food and beverages will be available for purchase at the base of the north
