With Jay Rock signed to a major and Nipsey Hussle signed to a major and they both have videos that's doing alright on the web but it's hard for gangsta rap to get spins on the radio and 106 & Park but I think the West has a chance to be more of a factor in the game this year

The South got street acts like Gucci,OJ,Yo Gotti and they all getting hood respect on the east coast and such so I know LA Acts can get way more respect than that, and bring gangster rap back

Game def looking out by having Nipsey tour the States with him, Game be going overseas and everything for months so having Nipsey along is a good look for real

thoughts?

People have been making this post every year with (insert name here) got signed, we got a chance! Label deals dont mean shit. Name 1 new rapper other than Game that has established a name for himself lately, and that dont mean getting their songs posted on 3 different websites and selling their album on their myspace page.

Exactly...Jay Rock been signed for over 2yrs now. G.Malone was signed w/ Sony. You'll only going to keep the seeing the same artists in the stores nationwide and videos on national tv (Game,Snoop,Cube)

No one outside of a msg. board knows what a Nipsey Hussle or a Jay Rock is

Damn @ the lack of support on here

if that's the case, than if you really want the West to do anything more than support the shit, you don't got to call no radio station

the internet is getting bigger than the radio

see it on 106, vote on it

Support wont get these rappers no where. What do you call support? We can't support an artist by going out to buy their album, they dont have albums out!!! All we can fuckin do is download their new song/mixtape on dubcnn, or post a myspace comment saying "hey westcoast rapper i hear your music all day!!" Whats that gonna accomplish? Socal rappers (Dago not included) dont know how to release albums independently....that or the fanbase aint there.

its funny we say we dont have to support our shit but southern muthafuckers damn sure support their artists and the niggas on the east coast stay buyin the east coast artist mixtapes and so on. It's amazing the bias they have for west coast shit outside of the west. "yall niggas cant flow", "no swag", "still talkin the same gangbang shit", "yall still say busta mark", "yall still wear flannels". all dumb shit I've actually heard.

The thing is they like the music they buy.. Why buy an album from a westcoast artist that sounds like they are a second rate artist from the south. Shit ill just get some authentic south Music if I want that shit. I think the shape the west in is contributed to more then style. We have millions of people on the west...so if you cant sell in your back yard then maybe your music is not as good as you think.

you right about that... niggaz wanna sound like the south or the east... not on they grind right to be pushin these units, only niggaz i see on the west that get love in they on backyard like that is the underground hipster rap dudes, but that's because they created their own lane even though they just lil pharells that looked up to Pharcyde, A.T.C.Q, etc. But what I been feelin for the longest is we need a new west sound...if the producers could get a new western sound to pop then you got a movement. Look at the whole Virginia Beach niggaz with they space shit, or ATL with they 64th note hi-hats 808 sub bass, synth pads, etc. We need new sound we cant let Dre dictate the west sound every 8-10 years.

I had to give you props for the Avatar..Fantastic planet is a must see. creating a new sound..problem is most artist you cant pry the video game controllers from and blunts from their grubby lil fingers long enough to get them to do anything...I remember I think it was Hutch in the 90's talking how artist on the West are the laziest. ive heard many others say the same thing...whats really changed? So i dont think its the sound as much as the laziness...things was good when shit was in the back yard, did not have to do much to get noticed.

I just don't understand it.

Oh yeah, good looks on the classic, la sauvage planete. Everyone should see it.

I've come to realize that we need a major dj figure out here on the westcoast. We need a dj clue or a dj drama. Somebody that these artist will respect and get behind. Yeah we have dj's out here that go hard such as the demolition men, dj warrior, ect. But do they have that WOW factore like a clue, funk flex, envy, drama, greg street, kay slay, ect. NO!! We need one dj that can almost tell all the dj's what to play. Or that other dj's listen to see what's hot.

Sounds more like LA is on the rise then the West Coast from reading the original post.....I ain't gonna lie....Nipsey, 211, Roccett and Hootie got me listening to LA shit again but I ain't about to tune in to no 106 & Park.....Fuck that......Like 50 Cal said.....If I like an artist I buy there shit....If I don't then I'll pass.....And I wish people would stop refferrinng to the West Coast as just LA.....Dago been shittin on LA throughout the 2000's and LA is really just makin a comeback IMO.

And yeah the south support the fuck out their artist but they also got the worst collection of emcee's.....I'm not buying shit I don't like just cuz u from the West....Sorry buddy....Ain't happening......Bring spme tight shit and u can get my money and the word passed on to the next man that ur shit is crackin.....Thats all I'm able to do......Hell, I live in LA and I run into people who never even heard of these niggas

I only know of one person who's heard of Roccett and thats only cuz she use to fuck with his brother.....I only know people to bump Nipsey is because I live live dead smack in his hood....I don't hear his music or anything anywhere else in LA......I hope that changes but we'll see.
