THIS IS A PERFECT EXAMPLE OF WHY TO WEAR YOUR SEATBELT SO TAKE MY ADVICE INSTEAD OF LEARNING THE HARDWAY:
Me and my homie Allen just finished school in San Diego and were on our way home with all our shit. It's 4:30 AM and I drowsed off and he was driving, I felt the car swerve and then I heard him say "OH SHIT" and I looked at him. He was swerving trying to get on the road. I looked at the road and we were just skidding like we were doin doughnuts. Then the car flipped and we kept flipping 6 or 7 times for over 1/4 of a mile. During that time I just ducked my head and kept hitting shit inside the vechicle. Luckily I was wearing my seatbelt. However my homie Allan was not. At some point he was ejected from the vechicle and fell out onto the highway. When the car stopped, it was leaning toward the drivers side and the doors wouldnt open. I had to kick the passangers side window open and crawl out. I had glass up in my hands and my shoes and had contusionson my legs and blood everywhere. I ran out onto the highway and looked for him but it was really dark and there was debris all over and I couldnt see him. I ran to the other side of the freeway and found a pair of jeans from the debris. I took it and started trying to wave down a car. After five minutes, I was able to stop a car. The driver called 911.
The police came and found my homie Allan. He was fucked up real bad but breathing. They took him in a helicopter to a hospital in Fresno. They took me in an ambulance to a different hospital where they assessed me. Luckily I was okay. I have major cuts and bruises all over my body and cant walk but no broken bones, or head trauma. When I got out and back home, I heard the unfortunate news about Allan. He was braindead. His mom had to pull the plug. She was so sad because she never got to say good bye, and he was supposed to call her before he left to let her know that he was on his way. All she wanted to do was talk to him one last time and let him know she loved him, but she didnt get to do that.
Allan wasnt drinking. They arent sure how we crashed. One theory is that he left the cruise control on at about 95 and woke up as the car veered onto the median. Another is he swerved to avoid a animal or another car.
May 19th is the first day that police will begin to enforce the seatbelt law more closely. Please dont let the police tell you to wear your seatbelt, do it yourself. The only reason I am alive is because I wore mine, and the only reason my homie Allan is dead is because he didn't wear his. I have always worn my seatbelt but never been one of those advocates that tells everyone else to wear theirs. Needless to say I will. Allan was 18 years old, he was doing well in school, he was traveling in a ride he just tuned up to look gangsta as fuck, he was getting a job, had a close girlfriend and a wonderful family. Now thats all gone, and all his homies and family have to bear the pain of knowing that he died so young and wont be around. Learn from this story and wear your seatbelt.
