Is there any free programs that let's me do this? And is simple like the (C) symbol

nit trying to download Photoshop n other programs like tha untill I get a laptop, right now I'm on my fam computer

i dont know if canon has this, but nikon lets u in the camera add your name or w/e u want it to say on the pictures meta data.. and the higher end models actually add it it as a watermark.

@ laoish, yeah u can.. i did it when i had my d40

You set this by going to MENU > Set Up Menu > Image Comment > Input Comment > (add your message like you did on 1970s video games) > Enter. You must hit ENTER or it will forget everything you just did!

To edit or remove a character, select it in the Input Comment screen by holding the checkerboard button and clicking the big thumb selector. Select a new character with the same selector and press the center of the selector to add it. Press the Trash button to delete a character.

When you get your text message spelled out, go to Attach Comment and hit SET so a small checkmark shows. Now go to and select DONE. If you forget to check Attach it won't attach, and if you forget to hit DONE it will also forget everything you just did. Sorry, I don't write the firmware.

gimp can do it. same as photoshop, layers and transparency, but gimp does take some getting used to...

yeah i didnty get it i just want a simple thing that has the copyright symbol and my name then photography after that.

i saw vids about gimp and watermarks on utube but those are all fancy and what not and i dont understand gimp at all haha

I think you can do that with ms word, lol.

you can make a psd and type out (c) 2010 Northbay Photography or some shit.. save it on psd then just drag that layer onto ur photo whei u wanna watermark it.

I was askin about this, copyright, couple days ago about marketing/pushing your photo shots. Can you guys break it down, dummy, a bit more of how to go bout this? Dont know what you mean by 'watermark'.
Also, would it be better to make a shitload of copies or a #'D limited photos?

I think what you want is to add 'metadata' to your shots.
It is an information tag to your photo basically.
You can add this for example open photoshop
file > file info

Now you get a panel where you can fill in a bunch of stuff. Among your copyright.
Then save it. You won't see it on the photo but it's there..
I think you mean this, but I am not sure..

I mean print 1 photo unlimited prints OR print certain amount of 1 photo like, 1/100.
Straightin me out if Im confusing anyone. To me marketing paintings N photos is 2 different things.
