Fine. That movie is a period film now. The game is different than it was 9-10 years ago. The 'Moneyball' idea is obsolete now, other teams either caught up to the curve, or have budgets big enough to make advanced metrics pointless for small market teams. After the A's last playoff appearence in 2006, and the first 'rebuild' attempt in 2007, I think it was clear the team was moving in the wrong direction, as evidence by the non-winning records, lol. But I think with this years deep rebuild the A's are poised to be much better in the next coming seasons, although some of that idea hinges on the new stadium. They probably wont be able to compete with Texas and the Halos this season (especially), but I have faith that Beane has the ship going in the right direction...But yeah, I thought it was a real good movie.

Why was there no mention of Zito, Hudson, Mulder. That was why they were successful not Scott Hatteburg. lol
I think because the movie was about using metrics to acquire otherwise abandoned players to fill gaps, and Mulder, Zito, and Hudson all more or less came up with the A's, not that it wasnt part of the reason they were good, but it wasnt the point of the book. Hatteberg was part of the reason they won, it was everybody they brought in coupled with what they grew.

Good movie but that is it. We all know how the story ends, the A's don't win shit.
Small market teams don't have a chance to compete in Baseball. It's pointless to even try. The A's will never be good until they can get more money

It is true that if you can make it to the playoffs anything can happen but........it is also true that these big spending teams do nothing but try and buy themselves into those playoffs and it works most of the time. Why do you think they are adding 2 more wildcard teams? Its not for the small market teams I can tell you that much.
