I actually do that a lot with buyers and sellers bc I hate ebays fees, as a seller I offer a discount to do that and ask for one as a buyer. I actually offered to buy his shit outside of eBay, I won't for sure now.

Only buy outside of ebay if they're a known buyer/seller or they have a lot of positive feedback.
