SACRAMENTO - A police "bait car" used to trap would-be auto thieves apparently succeeded Thursday morning, according to a police spokeswoman.
Officers spotted the car, a Honda, at 34th and Y streets about 8 a.m. after it was stolen from an Oak Park neighborhood, said Officer Michelle Lazark, police spokeswoman.
The officers turned on lights and siren, but the Honda took off along eastbound Capital City Freeway with at least three patrol cars in pursuit, Lazark said.
The car eventually was stopped north of the Cal Expo exit, and police arrested Pao Choua Vang, 22, on suspicion of auto theft.
Vang remained in custody late Thursday in lieu of $15,000 bail.
