Yup. Cube, Dre,and Ren talked about recording a new CD w/ Snoop replacing Eazy. The title was going to be NOT THESE NIGGAZ AGAIN. The only songs they recorded together which were released were "Chin Check" (from the NEXT FRIDAY soundtrack), and "Hello" (minus Snoop), from Cube's PEACE CD.
They appeared on the USA Network's "Farm Club", and did several songs before an audience for the show. Also, all four were on the successful UP IN SMOKE tour (2000). Dre, Snoop and basically everyone from Dre's 2001 CD were the headliners. Before that, Nate Dogg & Warren G. (as a duo), Eminem (solo) and Cube (by himself and occasionally joined by Mack 10, WC and/or MAYBE Ren--I forget) had their own slots on the show as well. After Dre, Snoop and company's part of the concert was over, Dre, Cube, Snoop and Ren did the "encore" portion as NWA.
The four allegedly tried to write/record more songs between UIS shows, but Dre wasn't satisfied w/ the results, and the idea was shelved. Cube later said that he didn't think Dre's heart was in the idea, and that NWA's name is so specific to Rap that a new NWA CD would have to be bangin' start-to-finish, or else the fans will say, "nope, you didn't make it," and I think he's right.
As far as what I thought...we should probably count our blessings that they were able to do the UIS tour together as they did. Replacing Eazy w/ Snoop was okay for the tour, but I don't think it would have been good for the new NWA CD, had it been recorded and released. Both Eazy's and Snoop's voices are high-pitched, but Eazy's voice had more force, while Snoop's too chilled for the aggressiveness that an NWA CD would require. Just my view, though.
PEACE!
