No it was not. So many people argue this on being true, and that simple is non sence. The other countries including the Russians, who ere trying to beat the United States to the moon, were listening in on radio transmitance between NASA and the shuttle on the moon. If this was false, the Russians would have exposed. Theres other arguments that say the "crops" in the pictures are fake and that the flag shouldn't have waves and why did it fall and can't be seen even with the highest telescope magnification.... The fact is that we dont even know if the flag is still standing today, when the "eagle" took off from the moon's surface the thrust might have made it tip over and probably forced it to to relocate several yards from its initial position. And we can't see the flag, even with the highest telescope magnification, because the flag is just about 40 inches long just like any standard flag. Unfortunately we do not have a telescope wide enough to gather enough light for that type of magnification. The largest telescope on earth is 20 feet in diameter, we would need a telescope that is about 200 yards in diameter to gather enough light in order to have enough magnification. Even if we did have that tyoe of telescope it would be like finding a needle in a hay stack because the flag can be covered in dust.
