Three Kings (In The Hole): Warner Brothers has blocked the DVD re-release of David O. Russell's modern classic, "Three Kings" due to what they are now referring to as "logistical problems." The news came just a few days after the studio decided to drop Russell's new short doc, "Soldier's Pay" from the DVD as a bonus feature. An outspoken opponent of the Gulf War (both of them), Russell sought to have the re-release of the DVD impact the November presidential election. But Warner Bros. has clearly got its own plans for the film... and the election.

Who ever said content was king?

"Three Kings," which told the story of the U.S. betrayal of the Iraqi Shiites following the first Gulf War (see GNN's story of a returning Shiite who fought in that rebellion here) starred George Clooney, Mark Wahlberg and Ice Cube. After hearing the Warner Bros. decision, Russell responded, "I am contemplating having a press conference with a 1st Amendment lawyer … next Tuesday to say that this is censorship and an infringement of the 1st Amendment based on political opinions."

Luckily, you can all still get out there and show your respect for the studio by renting the DVD and ripping copies of it for your friends. I'm sure Russell would be one of the first mainstream filmmakers to openly welcome the "theft."

I heard they are still going to release the movie, it's just delayed. They are taking the documentary off of the disc, but they gave the rights/ownership of it to the director so he can do what he wants with it. They just don't think it belongs on the disc cuz it doesn't even deal with the gulf war that the movie was about.

sorry but isnt warner brothers expressing their right to free speech by choosing not to put it on there? i mean, IT IS THEIR COMPANY AND ALL RIGHT? unless you show me where they made it so that it cant be showed anywhere else or through another company then sorry, the free speech argument goes out the window.
