There are over 10,000 people in China playing the game and selling items FULL time as their career. There are literal companies (corporations actually) that have office buildings with hundreds of people playing WoW at a time, gathering gold to sell on ebay and other places.
I knew a higher ranking chinese woman that was making about $70,000 american usd a year (THATS IN CHINA.. basically shes a millionaire in that country) selling gold.
Counting both my characters, my items, and gold i sold, I made about..
$800 + 500 + 250 = $1,550 from WoW
and about $2,700 from the original Everquest.
And its not like I played them that much. I just played them smartly... I had fun while doing it and made a shitload of cash for playing a game.. MMORPG's are definitely an addiction worse than most drugs, i'd agree with that. But its funny how many of you dont like them because you "dont understand" them or think theyre just about clicking and moving around. Thats actually pretty funny to me how someone can misinterpret something that bad.
