what does it mean when producers say they only use vst's to make their beats....i heard u dont even need no keyboard or nothin...i was just peepin dat ecay uno and he says he uses all vst's and his beats are bangin....just wondering the deal wittit

basically VST's are "virtual instruments." They can be drum machines, sound modules, synths or samplers. You run them on your mac or pc and the faster your computer (along with your ram) the better performence. 9 times out of 10 the vst's are run with cubase but you can run em with sonar and a couple of other audio apps.

cuzz VST stands for virtual instruments (created by steinberg) and when ecay says he did all the beats thru " vst " it means he used softwares vst instruments on the pc via a external midi keyboard... coz u couldn't play the piano on the computer keyboard u feel me, then u gotta find out the best vst instruments ever and u wit it.... And I can help you on dat shit hit me on aim cuzz

^ nah VST stands for Virtual Studio Technology, and yes its just virtual instruments like everyone else said.

However, it's real damn hard to use them properly without any hardware, especially a MIDI keyboard. If you dont have a midi keyboard you basically have to play them with your mouse, and its frustrating & time consuming.
