IT DEPENDS ON WHICH VST'S YOUR USING. THE HYPERSONIC 2 IS TIGHT AS FUCK. THE TRILOGY HAS FAT ASS BASS SOUNDS. THE DIMENSION PRO IS ALSO A GOOD VST. IF YOU USE THE EFFECTS IN CUBASE YOU CAN MAKE THOSE SOUND PRETTY THICK.

use errything you can...

never limit yourself to using one set formula, since theres no set formula for creativity..

surfin presets alone on new equipment inspires new music for me... i use a lil of errything, vsts are coo cause you can upgrade, or grab new ones for cheap, or free but you get what you pay for sometimes... you never know whats gonna be your next favorite instrument till you try it.. i got 250 gigs of vsts and samples, and around 30k in production gear including my pc, and i still find myself lookin for new shit for inspiration... im satisfied tho with what i have, and i can hear dramatic change year to year, month to month, shit day to day.. cause i have the ablility to work in multiple environments to what ever im comfortable wit at the time..

some times i sequence errything in the mpc, sometimes pro tools, some times the oasys, some times fruity loops, some times the motif etc...

i say to erryone producer or aspirin producer i come across, dont get caught up in the hardware vs software shit, and get em both and master both sides and your set...

and if you watch the trends, software and hardware are comin together anyway, (receptor, oasys, neko, mpc 4000) so get used to both

Definitely use everything and anything you can get your hands on. If you can't afford some solid hardware as far as keyboards and racks and what not, go with software to start with, and use it to the best of your abilities but learn to incorporate and use both.

Are the sounds fatter & thicker and just overall better sounding on the workstations because the effects are already applied to the sounds...?
