Previews for this movie look pretty sick. Not a fan of the Matrix by any means but this movie looks dope. I think I'm going to watch it on IMAX when it comes out...

In a story where Germany won a future World War and Great Britain is now a fascist state, a masked vigilante known only as "V" conducts guerrilla warfare against the government. When he rescues a normal young woman (Portman), she joins his struggle against the forces of oppression...

Set against the futuristic landscape of totalitarian Britain, V For Vendetta tells the story of a mild-mannered young woman named Evey (Natalie Portman) who is rescued from a life-and-death situation by a masked vigilante known only as "V." Incomparably charismatic and ferociously skilled in the art of combat and deception, V ignites a revolution when he detonates two London landmarks and takes over the government-controlled airwaves, urging his fellow citizens to rise up against tyranny and oppression. As Evey uncovers the truth about V's mysterious background, she also discovers the truth about herself - and emerges as his unlikely ally in the culmination of his plot to bring freedom and justice back to a society fraught with cruelty and corruption.

Lets see if they can do the comic justice.

Sin City thus far is the gold standard.

And previous attempts to make movies outta Moore's comics have been disasterous.

Sounds like an incredible movie, I'll have to check the trailer later. Sadly the political undertones will go over most people's heads. Now if they would only make a "The Dark Knight Returns" movie.

PS. A Kingdom Come movie adaptation would be the shit. The Captain Marvel v Superman alone would be worth the $10.

Michael Moore praising it and O'Reilly condemning it are *NOT* political undertones. They have no effect either way. The political undertones of the movie are independent from what critics say. Moore is *NOT* a revolutionary. So him liking the movie is just *HIS* opinion. Ebert loved Batman but that doesn't make him a vigilante.

Judging from what Sixx's synopsis said, and only from his synopsis as I've never read the graphic novel/seen the movie, I would argue that Britain is an allegorical United States. Germany would probably be the imperialistic/facist ideals held by this country and "the revolution and/or V's taking over the TV station" is reminiscent of Vonnegut's Harrison Bergeron character [too much of a coincidence?] and probably a call to arms not only for the audience IN the movie but also for the Audience outside the movie. All entities: Bergeron/V/Vonnegut/Alan Moore are trying to breach the imaginary "fourth wall" and trying to get people to rise up against the evils that surround us on an everyday basis.

THOSE ARE THE UNDERTONES.
