Okay, so I'm using a Radium 49 USB Controller with Reason 3.0, and when I hook it up to my Mac, no problems, its plug & play...

But when I take that exact same controller and hook it up to my PC, it doesn't automatically recognize the controller.

Okay, so I go into Preferences and try to add it manually. I go into Control Surfaces and Midi, choose the make & model and what not...then...

Heres where the problem comes in:

It asks me to SELECT MIDI PORT...then when I go in to select one...it doesn't show anything...its blank...
( When I do get the controller to work, it gives me the option of Midi Port 1 or Midi Port 2 )

But, usually, and now...its not giving me an option at all.

So it asks me to move a knob or button on the controller, to try and detect the connection manually...

Even when I do that...nothing happens.

So my question is...is there a place that I can add these Midi ports in the control panel...? Or how can I access these Midi ports...

What am I doing wrong ? It only does this when I try and hook up to the PC...

Anyone have any ideas ?

In windows xp pro you can access the midi stuff by going to
control panel --->sounds and audio devices--->audio--->midi music playback. If your midi controller shows up here select it.

Also, you may have to go to control panel-->add new hardware and do it manually IF the controller requires drivers or you already have them on your computer. In addition, go to START-->My Computer-->click on your main drive and select VIEW SYSTEM INFORMATION (which should be in the upper left hand corner.) Scroll down to you see sound, video and game controllers. If you see ANYTHING with an X or an EXCLAMATION MARK (!) you need to fix it. Right click on sound, video and game controllers and scan for new hardware changes. Also, if you SEE the midi device here make sure USE THIS DEVICE is selected.

I've never run into this problem, so this is all guess work and what I THINK is the way to fix it.

i purchased an axiom 49 controller not too long ago. i use it on my pc, all i did was run the installation disk that came with the controller and it worked fine.

you could try going to www.m-audio.com and searching for driver updates, that may help. otherwise, i'm not sure what else to try.
