universal audio project files?????

Only thing I have at the moment is Cubase 4...well Cubase is all I've ever used. If I create a project in Cubase. Can the .cpr project format be opened with other software such as ProTools or Adobe Audtion? Seems like it should work...but you never know. Companies don't want their secrets out. It should be like the image extensions. .jpeg, .gif .png. ALL or most photo editing programs can and will open these. session Project files should be portable too.

Thanks to Mr.Peete! Apparently, Cubase can export to other formats that CAN be opened by other software. Just not the proprietary formats.

thats odd. i could barely open cubase SE 1.7 files in cubase studio 4.
