I was born there. I moved in 1982 when I was 6, so I dont remember shit about it. I never heard any rap from there, but there are some fake muthafuckas tryna claim crip sets and shit. Gangsta rap is a fad or something to them...

Well theres no crips sets or color bangin over here, there are gangs, guns, drugs and crime, but thats true of everywhere.

There is lot of influence from American pop culture, but again thats true of everywhere, theres also a lot of Jamacian and asian culture intigrated with British traditions and very old institutions.

Its crazy to think the British owned half the world at one point, and invented that language that the Americans "bastardise" so much.

A lot of Americans dont even know where it is, we are not in Europe, we are a very small island on our own.

British rap is like something you've never heard before, with our own accents and slang all in our mother tongue ENGLISH.

It began around 1987, influenced by Public Enemy and Ultramag. with groups like Hijack (once signed by Ice T to rhyme syndicate records), Gunshot, Hardnoise, Demon Boyz, London Posse.

This is not including the most influental rapper from Britain Slick Rick, who's history is cemented in rap folklore.

Early UK rap was the most hardcore terrorist type music ever made
There are cultural differences in the north and the south of England, The south has a lot more reggae and patois, the north is more more grimy and dirty.

West Coast Gangsta rap is not so popular over here, its a different lifestyle that a lot cannot relate to, some can.

United definitely

I'm a footballer (well kinda too injured to keep playin nowadays), but living in Ohio USA there is not much chance without use of a satellite dish to catch any European matches. Now they have the semi's and finals of the Champions League and maybe the FA Cup Final on ESPN or sumthin but that's about it. But back in 92-93 they had this show that was like an hour long and it was just hilights of Premiership matches from the weekend. The first one I saw was of the Derby b/n United & City where United conceded 2 Niall Quinn goals only to come bacc on an Eric Cantona brace and Roy Keane winner. I had no idea who they were or anything but Cantona immediately caught my eye as the kind of player I could get into. The rest is history, the only matches I see since I do'nt have a satellite are the ones I previously mentioned, so I am forced to buy the Season Review to see all the goals I missed. I was actually out in Las Vegas and got to see the United/Arsenal match that gave Arsenal the title. Dammit.

at the moment a lot of british rap is a new style called "garage" music, mainly i'm not really into any of it though. Most hip hop acts are underground and not very well known either.

tim westwood sometimes plays uk rap on friday night's on the radio go here ------

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/aod/radio1.shtml , i think you can listen to it either live or not live (radio 1 rap show)

Yo where abouts are you? are you British?

I thought i was the only person on this whole island bumpin Lynch and X Raided

Garage sucks dick, that romeo guy is a joke.

A lot of new Brit rap is shit, i grew up on the older stuff, Hijack and Gunshot etc..

Deuce - Thats pretty ignorant, have you ever been to England? , Have you ever been to Ireland?
Personally im all for the English leaving Ireland, but its more political than that, half of Ireland wants them there, i dont fully understand it, but your statement of the irish hating the English is not exactly true.
No nation has an unblemished past, English, Irish and particularly American, regardless of what our governments do, we are all people tryin to eat and survive.

Oxide and nuetrino, Asher D, So solid crew

I gotta set the record straight with this shit, the above groups are not British Hip Hop or Rap, they are a form of music called Garage, its gay club music, the guys try to rap, but they fail, its something unique to the UK, they dont even call themselves rappers they are MCs and yes they are all wank

Real UK rap is a lot less visable, and a lot more lyrical, much truer to what American hip hop was a few years ago, if you can be bothered keep a look out for the following crews for the best of what Britain has to offer,

Roots Manuva
Task Force
Out Da Ville
Jehst
Cappo
Doyen- D
Junior Disprol
Skinnyman
Mud Family
Moorish Delta
Phi Life Cypher
Hoodz Underground
Ty & Shortee Blitz
Black Twang
Karl Hinds
Rodney P
Villians
Aspects
New Flesh
Braintax

Im sure nobody gives a fuck but i had to get that off my chest.

The situation in Ireland is religious fuck shit, Catholics against Protestants, it is mad violent, IRA bombed our chip shops.
