The fight card for next week's UFC 116 summer blockbuster is complete with today's official addition of a Forrest Petz vs. Daniel Roberts preliminary-card bout.
UFC officials today announced the full lineup and the new prelim fight, which MMAjunkie.com (
www.mmajunkie.com) first reported this past week.
UFC 116 takes place July 3 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
The pay-per-view main card features a heavyweight title-unification bout between champion Brock Lesnar and interim title-holder Shane Carwin. Additionally, Spike TV airs a one-hour "UFC Prelims" special prior to the main card that features preliminary-card bouts.
Petz (18-7 MMA, 2-3 UFC), a former UFC fighter who returns to the UFC on the heels of a four-fight win streak in outside organizations, replaced injured Julio Paulino (17-3 MMA, 0-1 UFC). His opponent, Roberts (9-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC), is an NAIA All-American wrestler who signed with the UFC earlier this year. But at UFC on Versus 1, he served as an injury replacement for Anthony Johnson and suffered a TKO loss to John Howard, which marked his first career loss.
