Ok so they're protesting a 30% hike in tuition....But read the fine print:

If your parents make less than $70,000 a year you pay NO tuition

If they make between $71-169,000 (or some figure like that) the tuition is slightly increased however you can get aid for the additional amount.

This mainly affects people whose parents make $170,000 & up....With the increase, the yearly tuition would be about $9,600.....cry me a fuckin' river rich boy.

What's hilarious is that part of it is to help aid those who are below the $70,000 a year mark. Yet, if they charged people who made less than 70k, they'd be protesting THAT...I guess you always gotta protest SOMETHIN' if you go to Berkeley.

And the icing on the cake, a protest ain't a protest unless there's some white dude with dreads and a poncho bangin' a conga drum...Never fails!

My apologies if any of my numbers aren't exact but it's close enough!

Oh and on a side note, I know alot of it has to do with the budget crisis too...But just think about how much extra money was spent by taxpayers so these gaywads could protest with extra cops getting overtime to babysit...It all adds up people

But what about the people who have parents that won't pay for their school? You have to include your parents income in your fafsa if you are under 24. My parents made right around 100k while I was in school and I didn't get any financial aid just loans and I doubt people that fall in the middle will get any extra help. But one of the main issues is that they are raising the fees but still cutting classes and staff, why isn't the extra revenue going towards improving the education that these people are paying for? Anyways just my thoughts but I didn't know about them paying the difference if you fall in the middle that should help a lot if it is true.

The reason they are protesting is they are all rich. Im pretty sure if someone ran some statistics UC kids' parents of every demographic make more than kids parents that go to state schools.

Some guy was telling me how he made it the other day and "Only In San Francisco Can a Brown Guy Make It Like This...No Offense..." Then he told me how he went to a $10,000 a year K-8 school and got into Lowell and then his parents paid for UCB, sounds like a life of privilege to me regardless of if you're brown or not....

I really hated all the rich kids while I was at Berkeley, you know the ones that didn't even know what a fafsa was because they didn't even need to take out student loans. But not everyone is like that a lot of people in my classes were transfer students and even though while I was in college my parents made good money it was only because my mom went to school and graduated when I was like 10. Before that my parents probably made 1/3 of what they make now. I am sure that when you compare Berkeley to a state school the students parents have a higher income but I am sure some of that is due to the fact that it is the top public college in the US and you have a lot of students from other states and countries. Even if they have a lot of rich kids going to school there (and believe me those privileged motherfuckers pissed me off) that description doesn't fit everyone.

By the way I am not trying to say I had it hard either because I didn't and my parents knew getting an education was important so they made sure all of their kids went to college, or had the opportunity to. So far my sister and I have both graduated from Berkeley my little brother is fucking around at the JC right now but I am sure he will get his shit together soon and my younger sister is still in middle school getting 4.0's.
