I want to say Gracie, but he hasn;t fought in a minute, so it should be a good one. If Gracie had been fighting (not just training) I would say he wins easily.

Gracie's time has passed. He was an awesome champion and brought Brazilian jiu-jitsu to the forefront in America, but can he really expect to compete against today's multi-disciplined fighters let alone Matt Hughes? The only way Gracie wins this fight is if Hughes is stupid and gives up a submission (he is susecpible to the rear naked choke as demonstrated by BJ Penn). Otherwise, I see Hughes pounding on Gracie and the fight ending quickly.

As far as his fighting in Japan, he is 1-1-2 in his last four fights. His only opponent with a name in MMA, Sakuraba, finished him by TKO.

Since this is a non title fight I would have to say Gracie. Im assuming Royce has a multifight contract it could set up a 2nd fight or a new open weight class kind of what the pride organization is doing right now for their upcoming tournement. Royce like any Gracie family member will never give up, they could get stomped every round but if you get caught slipping its over with. I see another rear naked choke being applied to Matt Hughes.

Royce already quit against Sakuraba. It was a tough fight, but he did quit. That being said, if it had different rules I would pick Royce, but with No Gi, short rounds, and only 3 rounds, there is not enough time for Royce. Royce is training like crazy at the Fairtex academy in SF so his striking will be better, but it wont be enough. Hughes by DEC. I really would like to see Royce win, I am pulling for him to win, but its stacked against him.
