I'd get the Motif, its cheaper and the sounds on it aren't hella played out like the triton

lol thats cuz the triton is a dope unit, i mean do you really buy a synth workstation to use ALL the factory preset sounds? thats kinda silly too do that, and not to mention a big waste of money, both are very good units and i think either one will do you right, but you have to unlock the powers of either one, the motif sounds will be played out soon enough like the triton presets.

so regardless of which one you get you will have to tweak the sounds and get good with the effects, i personally have a triton rack, and i love that thing, i have 3 expansions, the vintage archives, trance attack and dance extreme, but i will be purchasing the motif in a matter of days here, so hell GET BOTH OF THEM!!!!

you might want to look at the proteus 2500 as well, its cheaper but it is a very powerful unit and it is expandable, i own one of those too and i think it easily holds its own weight, and like i said its about half the price of a triton

yeah the vintage archives and dance extreme are the shit...

if you have either one, and proper knowledge on how to mold your own sound.. either rack will serve you well.... and yeah the triton sounds are pretty played out.. but the strings and brass are still killin em

THE MOTIF SOUNDS ARE BEING RAPED AS WE SPEAK. THE ORIGINAL POSTER SHOULD ALSO LOOK INTO THE PROTEUS 2500, KURZWEIL RACK AND ROLAND 5080 MODULES. PERSONALLY I WOULD TAKE THE MOTIF KEYBOARD/WORKSTATION OVER THE MODULE. MORE SOUNDS, DIFFERENT FX ENGINE, ETC ETC ETC.

:HGK:

PS ANYONE HERE USE THE EMU VIRTUOSO MODULE?

I can see why you say that. The sales rep at the G.C was pushin that rack kinda hard, even though there were plenty of others on display. I hate this process...it gives me huge headache. Thanks to everyone that post here Heresy,Mr.D-Sane,Sick wid it, Mo-x etc. You just don't know how much help yall been to brotha in the past few months! oh yeah bumpus too!

The people at GC are salesmen. For all you know, they could be trying to push the motif, cause yamaha is giving them some sort of spiff if they sell a certain number of their units. You gotta take that into consideration when a sales rep at GC starts pushing you towards certain pieces of equipment.
