Tom Cruise's attorneys are looking to take legal action over a new strain of medical marijuana which has been put on the market under the star's name.

The 'Tom Cruise Purple' brand, which features a picture of the Vanilla Sky actor laughing on the vials, is currently being sold in licensed marijuana clubs in Northern California.

The strain is said to be particularly strong and users can experience hallucinations.

But the association has infuriated the anti-drugs star, whose Scientology religion opposes any kind of use of psychotropic drugs.

Cruise's lawyers are now seeking to sue the manufacturers, reports the New York Daily News.

Some celebrities are honored by restaurants who will name a dish after them. It's safe to say Tom Cruise does not feel honored with the gesture.

who's he gonna sue? it aint like its official and a registered trademark/copyrighted strain...some high ass grower or cannabis club manager just slapped a name on it and called it a day. it's probably just a cross, some grandaddy, or erkle or something renamed to tom cruise grapes.

even as a pro marijuana advocate im siding on tom cruise with this one. marijuana is a multi million dollar buisiness and you cant be using peoples names to market anything, including weed. thats like a mutha fucka callin his vacuum the tom cruise vacuum.

No. I'm sick of these composite rebels, pretending to rage against the machine, when really, they're just creating their own replacement/upgrade parts. A machine is still a machine, and they'll always be pro-Machine. The sooner they realize it, the better.
