most people really dont fully appreciate what he did for rap music. California rap was changed forever. There would be no cube, no ren, no dre, no... shit no fuckin eminem with out that chain. Dre would have wasted his talents in the world class wreckin crew.
Though they did make one song that was on hit ("Change that drum to an 808, well I was walkin down the street.....") they were mostly stuck in the dance craze. remember when every album had to have a dance track. WCWC had ALL dance music. Shit they made the song called the cabbage patch. POint is, dre woulda been stuck. E. W never wrot ehis rhymes, never did a lot of shit, but he built a group, had a vision, and had enough hustle to make it happen.
I remember when I was building my company's webpage, I wanted to put a picture up of the producer and he refused an of the newer pictures. He wanted only a picture of him and Eric (friends) because of his influence on him. MOST people who new him know he wasn't out to fuck people. But he was not a fuckin accountant. eazy-e was a commercial rapper, he was on mtv and the radio and sold millions of records. he was good though, i liked him.
i dont like dr dre and eminem, i find them to be annoying sellouts that find little gimmicks and acts so that millions of rich kids in the suburbs will buy their cds.
so that is why i do not like them, it is not because i am trying to be "gangsta" as you said.
as i see it, someone trying too hard to be "gangsta" would probably actually like dr dre and eminem and would think they are "hardcore thugs from the streets" while in reality they live in million dollar mansions and are surrounded by security guards.
if you want to listen to a real life thug, listen to x-raided.
he is in prison and sneaks ways to record albums from prison illegally.
