If some guy went to shake your hand and he pulled it out and it looked like this little girls hand:

Would you hesitate to shake it? I know a lot of people would.

I wouldn't. I didn't hesitate to shake a homeless persons hand when he offered it to me, and who knows where his hands have been.

Besides i've had my hands in the grossest of places, like that one night i got drunk with Kelly. lol.

But I guess a deformed hand isn't necesarrily unsanitary, so what is it that makes people scared to touch it? hmm.

^^^it might not be that people don't want to not shake it, but it's a shock at first...its just that split hesitation like "what the fuck is that?"...just that "oh shit.." sorta thing cuz u dont normally see hands like that.

otherwise, people are just rude in general...they stare at people in wheel chairs and shit, so u never know.

I have a customer who frequents my store, and both of his hands are deformed in a similar way. Similar, but not as extreme. He has crab hands, with two thumb-like fingers. He's a regular looking guy despite that. He's pretty cool too, but the first time I rung him up I was a little surprised. He was handing me the cds he was getting, and I looked. But hey, it was only a momentary thing. I treat everyone with respect, no matter what. He handed me cash to pay, and I was concerned over how I would give him the change. I held it out, and he took it. He manages really well, because he's had to grow up learning how to deal. I am sure he gets a lot of looks when people notice his hands, but he is most likely used to it. Hell, he was a nice guy and we joked about a cd he was getting because it was a gag gift. I'd shake his hand in a second. I'd shake that girl's hand. People are people, and the only deformity I dislike is ignorance or just plain rudeness.

I saw a guy with a deformed hand yesterday, but I didn't interact with him. I did do a double-take and had that feeling, like WTF? I don't know, I guess theoretically I should want to shake the deformed hand if it is offered, but realistically I would hesitate to shake it. Maybe its some programmed instinct to fear the "non-normal" or something.
