There have been a ton of posts on this topic. Try using the "Search" function. To quickly answer your question, what's better for YOU to use is whatever suits your needs and you feel comfortable using. And the only way to really know that is to start trying stuff out. You can demo actual gear at your local music store, and a lot of software has trial versions available.

whats wrong with fruity loops? you can make decent shit with it you just gotta stay away from the stock drum sounds lol. take a little bit of time and experiment with the synthesis features in the program...it will give you a head start on synthesis for when you get your MicroKorg.

I always see cats say use the search function every time this thread popps up but damn there ain't nothing wrong with starting a conversation about a subject we are all passionate about.

I use Reason, Cubase and my crappy old midi keyboard, works for now but I'm a gear junky and I'm going to always want more shit. Just need money thats all!

Really depends on your workflow man...check out some hardware as well as software to see which one suits the way you work best.

Keep in mind though...its not the equipment...its the person controlling it.
