here's my problem...i love to support underground artists, and whenever some shit comes out, i'm quick to scoop it...but sometimes, i just can't afford to pay $13-16 for a cd...like right now, i'm moving to portland in one week, and need every dime i can get, but as we all know, the plague and devin come out in the next two weeks, and i sure as fuck can't drop $30...i know some of my boys will be gettin these albums, and i'll obviously be very tempted to burn 'em...so do ya'll think i should deprive myself of music i've been waitin months to hear, or should i wait until i can afford the shit to get it?...my thinkin is that first of all, these artists more than likely are not as strapped for cash as i am, and therefore will not be hurt financially as i will if i buy these...second, by me havin these cd's in my collection, many people will hear the shit that may have not otherwise, and may be inclined to buy them, so in a way, even if i'm burnin the shit, i'm still spreadin the word about the artist...tell me what ya'll think, especially the artists

i thought about that too, but realistically, there'd be something newer out, and who wants to spend money on somethin they already got?...like i'd love to support siccmade muzicc when they re-release the season, but there are many other cd's that i'd get before i spend $ on a cd i already have burnt

If I really wanted to help the artist out (and listen to the album as soon as it's bootlegged or released), I would burn a copy, then buy it at the store when I'm ready to buy it. Then, I would give away the burned copy to somebody I think would enjoy it and maybe bought the album at a store.
To me, it's a far more complicated process than "but I'm taking money from the artist," so I will not give the opinion I would like to give.

just burn it and buy his next cd that comes out
he OWES that to you. I mean whatever rapper it is WOULD rather get you to burn 1 of his cds and buy the rest of his cd's that he puts out than just not buying any cd's at all.

you would be surprised how strapped for cash many of us are.

most of yall got jobs where you see a paycheck every week or two, but for us our job is makin music and we are lucky to see a paycheck every 6 months, and then even if we do see a check unless we done sold a whole shitload of cd's it aint that much. i guarantee yall - if you have a regular ass job most of yall see more money than a lot of us independent cats.

@AlEX, I usually don't attack folx opinions on here but you said the dumbest shit i've heard in a while. we don't owe nobody shit. a nigga would rather you buy this one and dont worry bout the next cd because if a nigga don't eat off this shit 2day than it aint finna be no new albums 2morrow.

as far as burnin now and buy later that aint realistic. once a nigga got it for free then he aint finna spend no loot to get the same thing that he already got. that shit yall talkin is a theory - it dont really happen.

and another thing, you thinkin that if you burn it it aint finna hurt the artist cuz it's just one copy - but it's the mindset of burnin instead of buyin that when you add it all up it's a lot stronger than one person - just look on this post i count 5 (It's only 1 copy, it aint finna hurt the artist) people who have posted so add it up and it counts.

and another thing I don't want no exposure, i need some money.

sounds like you already made up your mind tho........

I burnt the new devin but will buy the cd. and morethan likely will burn tech's new one but already have it pre-ordered. To me its about the quality and the fact that I respect the work put into the cds put out, not all but most.

I have and will continue to burn cds. When a new cd comes out I download it listen to it for a while and if it's tight I buy it. I support tight shit but I will not buy a cd just because of who made it or where they are from. I always have and always will buy tight shit but I will continue to burn the albums first to make sure they are worth money. If any artist or label has a problem with that fine, I'll stop burning your albums and I'll also stop buying them.
