This is the explanation my anthropology teacher gave me:
As you know, most animals are either monogomous (one partner) or polygamous (lots of partners).
Being one or the other benefits certain species. For example, it benefits humans to be monogamous because its healthier to raise children that way. It ensures that the parents are spending their time raising their kids instead of looking for someone else to bone. This is part of the reason that humans usually give birth to one baby at a time.
But it benefits most other animals to have lots of partners. but because they dont stay with one mate, raising offspring is harder and the children have a higher chance of dying before reaching maturity. this is why most animals give birth to more than one at a time. most canines and felines for example have 4 per litter, spiders can have hundreds of thousands at a time. this is to increase their survival rate.
but regarding love - nobody can prove that other animals dont feel love. but obviously love is a survival tactic for the human species. it keeps couples together and therefore increases the chances of survival for their offspring.

Love, along with the other "advanced" emotions were developed over time. The more shit you gotta go thru, the stronger bonds like friendship and love become. Humans are very socially dependant (for the most part) on each other. Therefore as they grew (in culture, thinking, wonderment, tradition) these emotions changed, mutated, intensified, and increased alongside thier physical advancements.
I don't think Love evolved, I think it's always been there. The need for spirituality in every human is justified by the fact that there has to be a purpose in life. For us to know everything we do and just die would be pointless. Cuz the only limitation to what we can learn is the time limit our lives give us. If we never died we would never stop learning. So why do we die? I don't know. I do know in the Bible that when people went to Jesus and told them that someone died, He told them that they were only "sleeping." In the Bible it says that the good people go to a place to rest when they "die" and they wait to be called by Jesus. I think the reason those people died was because they couldn't learn anything more from being on the earth the way it is. So they sleep and wait for a teacher to show them something new. It would do them no use to stay on the earth and suffer if they could't learn from it.
As for that bombass sex stuff. The girl is looking for love. What she knows about love is that it makes you feel good. So the better someone makes her feel the more "love" she's found. But she learns over time that real love never fades or gets dull. She sounds like a good person, if she says she loves you and means it. That's the problem with the world. Good people are gullible, or I should say completely trusting. So when someone bad says they love you back, and can convince you, even tho they don't really feel that way about you, you feel like your the person doing the bad things cuz you can't figure out why you ain't happy. Some people figure it out some people never give up and need some help or guidance. I think you'd have to burn in hell to try and keep a selfless love like that for yourselves when there ain't no doubt in your mind that you don't love her. Cuz if you don't love her all she is is currency to you, a trophy to tell yourself how much your worth. It ain't "survival of the fittest" it's who's "fit for survival". Evil destroys itself. Good grows stronger from tryin to be destroyed.

Dogs like you. They would like a gorilla and lick its face if it was to feed them. As long as you treat an animal like its cool with you it shouldnt feel threatened. If you hit it off it will like you and maybe show that effection.

We associate certain things with good or bad. Such as hate. We hate things for whatever personal reason. It all comes down to our brain size. A dog that hates you will act more agressively and without concern over consequenses from its actions because it doesnt have the capacity that a larger brain provides. A shrimp could get pissed at you if it had a big enough brain, which it doesnt. All it needs is primal functioning.

All pack animals with the exception of cats. Dude, cats only come when they feel like it. If they are "loving" it's mostly with themselves.
And Blight is right on about the brain thing. I wanted to mention that before. They had a show on Animal Planet just lastnight on wolves, it basically answered this question.

More on cats. We got two kittens. They purr instantly when you pick them up. Why? I cant figure it out. But the older cats dont purr for shit unless they think your gonna pay atention to them and then feed em. Almost like its become conditioned behavior. Yeah like he said ^ it all them.
