Gleison Tibau confirmed with MMAWeekly his upcoming showdown with Xtreme Couture fighter Tyson Griffin at Ultimate Fighting Championships 81.

“I’ve been training hard; training a lot of my ground game, a lot of boxing and wrestling,” said the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt. “I will try to take him down and he will try to take me down. It will be a very good fight.”

Tibau made his Octagon debut at UFC 65 suffering a TKO loss to Nick Diaz, but he has since put together a four-fight winning streak. The American Top Team fighter recently handed Terry Etim the first loss of his career at UFC 75 in London.

Griffin is fast becoming one of the UFC’s most popular fighters. Known for putting on exciting fights, the former Gladiator Challenge champion is coming off of a unanimous decision victory over previously undefeated Thiago Tavares.

“Tyson’s biggest weakness is his ground game. He is a strong wrestler, has great submission defense and is explosive,” commented Tibau. “(But) having trained with Thiago, I feel that I am stronger and I believe I can put more pressure on Tyson. I know I can submit him.

“Fans, please watch this fight because it will be a great battle. I want the belt and I will do everything I can to get it. Thanks for everyone’s support.”
