(Memphis 12/10/2009) Lola "Gangsta Boo" Mitchell is used to talking about dollars, her hit "Where Dem Dollars At" helped to launch her solo career from Three Six Mafia. Now, dollars and her name have come up again but this time because she's been arrested in connection to a robbery.
Olive Branch police say she was one of two suspects arrested for robbing an Olive Branch Dollar General store in July. Mitchell turned herself in Tuesday after finding out she had a warrant for conspiracy to commit armed robbery.
Police also arrested, 30-year old Marcus Curtis. They say he was armed with a revolver, ordered store clerks to put money in a bag, then left the scene.
We were able to catch-up with her father, Cedric Mitchell, at his home in Orange Mound. He says Gangsta Boo has proclaimed her innocence.
"She said I didn't do it and that's about the short and long of it," said Mitchell
Gangsta Boo is using her twitter page to deny involvement saying she is guilty by association. She tweeted: "I am with the hottest producer in the game right now what do i look like robbing a store" and "what innocent person in their right mind won't turn themselves in."
Police have not said what role Mitchell played in the robbery. She's out on a 100-thousand dollar bond. Mitchell has a January 5th court date for this charge. She is also expected to be in a Memphis courtroom tomorrow for an unrelated reckless driving charge.
