Three 6 Mafia are officially known these days.
And in 2006 they may become even more known, as the "Stay Fly" trio of DJ Paul (Paul Beauregard), Juicy J (Jordan Houston) and Crunchy Black (Darnell Carlton), all in their early 30s, are in talks with MTV about a reality television show.
"Nothing's written in stone," said Juicy J from the road as the group readied for a New Year's Day concert in Richmond, Va.
"They want a pilot and we're piecing together a pilot, so we'll see."
After grinding for a decade, the Memphis-born rappers are finally bona fide stars after the critical praise for their 2005 album Most Known Unknown.
Their hot hit "Stay Fly," with Young Buck and 8Ball & MJG, has become a halftime staple at NFL games.
"We woke up one morning and we're superstars," said Juicy J.
But Juicy said he won't feel like the group has really made it until they break through in Hollywood.
"We want to direct independent films and follow in the footsteps of Craig Brewer," he said about the Memphis director of last year's rap drama "Hustle & Flow."
The group already has released three straight-to-video films and plans to release a fourth, "Choices 3: The Return of Big Pat," next year.
Juicy J said the movie is about his brother, rapper Project Pat, who was released from federal prison last summer after serving three years on weapon charges.
Pat (Patrick Houston) is finishing his album, Crook by the Book: A Fed Story, to be released in the spring.
"We're working on tracks from everybody from Mike Jones to T.I.," said Juicy J, predicting that Triple 6 will have plenty of work in 2006. "Hell, we'll even work with country artists if they ask us. Why? 'Cause we love music."
Three 6 Mafia will be featured January 10 on MTV2 in a Making The Video show for the single "Poppin My Collar" with Project Pat.
