ATLANTA -- Charles Barkley can critique Kobe Bryant's game all he wants Thursday night from an unfamiliar spot: courtside.


Barkley will take a week off from his usual role on TNT's studio show to join Marv Albert in calling the Los Angeles Lakers' game at Sacramento.

Barkley will be a courtside analyst for the first time in nearly five years and only the fourth time since he began working with the network. Albert requested the former NBA star because partner Steve Kerr had back spasms and was unavailable.


Bryant was bothered by Barkley's criticism after the Lakers' Game 7 loss to Phoenix in last season's playoffs. Bryant scored only one point and took just three shots in the second half. Barkley said Bryant was selfish for not trying to take greater control of the offense.


Bryant told Barkley he was angry in text message responses. They patched things up before Bryant appeared as a studio guest during TNT's coverage later in the postseason.

Charles said on the air a little while ago his only goal for the next 3 years was to get his daughter graduated from HS not pregnant. Hilarious, embarassing for the poor girl but I love Charles.

I remember the allstar game that beyonce performed during halftime....right after she got off they cut to charles, magic, & the rest of them and charles kept interrupting talking about beyonce like "did you see that? did you just seen what I seen? you didn't just see that" then he gets up and starts "dancing" like her....they had to cut to commercial cuz none of them could stop laughing

LMAO, barkeley.......I could watch every nba game with Barkeley, LOL, shit, after Bynam scores, "Wide open baby, like 7-11, 24-7".....WTF, Barkeley's classic.....LMAO........anyways, I just got back from the Usc vs. Oregon game, kinda pissed, but barkeley's hilarious

ok i'm not blaming everything on the refs (let me make that clear) but kobe got fouled at least 5 times with no calls. that last drive was obviously a foul...anybody could see that.
