(NewsCore) - A Georgia man who claims he found a used tampon in his bowl of cereal filed a lawsuit against a supermarket and the cereal manufacturer, the Macon Telegraph reported Saturday.
Thomas Roddenberry said he and his wife bought a box of Chocolate Chip Crunch cereal from a Save-A-Lot store in Thomaston, Ga. in October, 2008.
The next day, Roddenberry poured himself a bowl of the cereal and added milk. He found the tampon in his bowl after taking a bite.
He spat out the mouthful and was taken to a hospital for treatment after becoming nauseated.
The lawsuit said the box of cereal and the plastic bag inside showed no signs of being tampered with.
Roddenberry sustained physical injuries as well as emotional worry, according to the lawsuit.
He and his wife Lynn, of Upson County in central Georgia, filed the lawsuit against Save-A-Lot supermarkets and Ralston Foods.
They are seeking unspecified damages
