*SKEPTICAL

Ok ya'll......2 releases that I have heard have actually impressed me lately...over the countless others I have heard that were a waste a a few dat tapes and studio time.....we all know the game is flooded with amatuers and overnight hypes....so i try and seperate the real from fake....and give my $6.50 on what I hear...

The last one that really impressed me with quality was Ice Cold Heat by GameWardens camp....it was definitely above average and a lot better than some releases on the streets, although the cover art and packaging wasnt all that impressive IMO, its whats inside that counts, and they had a quality release with solid track that hasnt left my CD changer since I put it in ( They Gone...my favorite track)

This latest one I recieved was from our folks Charles Jay (AKA cIPHER mINDS) who browses the forum now, we've all seen the album back cover with the picture of him as a child with Pac.....peaked some interest just with the pic...He also posted a track or two on here and got great reviews...but ya'll need to stop sleepin and cop this album when it hits....These aint ya ordinary rap cats, they got a little more of a hip-hop feel to it, but a Westcoast hip hop feel....from what I can tell these cat are from the Point...the album has 13 verry solid tracks and you rarelky need to hit the skip button on ya CD player...there was I'd say 11 out of 13 top rate songs on the CD.....The first track hit hard and the beat is just fuckin off the chain, since they are more hip-hop, they dont lack on the lyrics and have some complexity to the songs.....the whole album has a postive feel to it, but not soft, it definitely still has an angry and rough edge.....Excellent use of sample from speeches and movies...(except for one well overused king of new york sample "the nickel bag gets sold in the park" thing)

The mixing and mastering I though was done by God himself, or King Midas...this album is extremely clear and crisp, whoever was on the boards knows their shit....The bass is solid, the treble is crisp, high are high, low are low but not muddled and muffled...
VERY IMPRESSIVE RELEASE WITH A POSITIVE TONE AND OUTLOOK...I DONT LISTEN TO MUCH NY HIP HOP OR ANY HIP HOP REALLY, BUT THIS ALBUM IS HOTT...HASNT LEFT MY PLAYER IN 2 DAYS....AINT LEAVIN ANYTIME SOON.

IM A TOUGH CRITIC AND THIS ALBUM EXCEEDED MY EXPECTATIONS..

TRACKS I RECOMMEND

1. THE JOURNEY BEGINS

3. LEAVE ME ALONE (SOLID RADIO HIT FOR S.F.)

6. SAME PLANET, DIFFERENT WORLD

7. I LOVE MYSELF (FEAT DESSIE)

BE ON THE LOOKOUT YA'LL

CHARLES JAY

"DREAM RETURNED"

RATING;

THERES 5 VEGAS IN A PACK.....SO 5'S THE BEST RATING

THIS ALBUM GET 4 BLUNTS AND A CHUNKY DOOBIE LEFT OVER IN THE ASHTRAY...SOLID RELEASE AND DEBUT.

well the back cover shows the Pac pic....but the songs didnt quit seem to fit the CD inside....kinda makes sense now cause some of the title didnt seem to fit....Track #3 was the radio song about grwoing up in the point, but the title was "Leave me alone"?.

cd cover showed 13 tracks, cd had 13 tracks, but that seemed to be the only similarity

"you can ask big Vic ,cause he told me the truth
you spent ya lunch money to get Cellski and Dre dog in the booth"

shit had me dyin....not sure if those were the exact words but i laughed for like 5 minutes....that song was so true its sad...

Hook me up wit promo materail when theyre available. i got a new addrss now so hit me on the pm when ready

thanks for the endorsement. The packaging was very professional (if I do say so myself). The art was creative for what we were trying to convey. I think the artist did a fantastic job but I gave him a ridiculously hard concept to convey. Plus, no pictures.... we were going for different. Only problem is, a person might not evern know its a rap album by just looking at it. I see your point, but I would definitely put the blame on myself rather than the artist.

Once again, thanks for the endorsement. You really like that song "They Gone". That's cool.

^^ exactly, when i was passing out flyer for it (I commonly got the response of "What is this", as where with other flyers it was never asked...By the way, who the fuck printed those stickers...I gotta go through them, cause the adhesive they used is far superior to most stickers ive seen or had...those fuckers are hard to get down...theyve stayed up more than any others Ive seen....fools cant even tear them down

yeah 'They Gone" was the catchiest one to me, it stuck with me more than the others..

about the packaging....You did have the most professional and well put together promo pack I've seen in the last 5 years, the pen was a nice touch..most cats throw whatever in an envelope and ship it out...the personalized letterhead and variety of what was included really impressed me and my colleagues...
Not to knock cats that just ship out a cd at all...i know what having a tight budget is like, my project didnt even make it to printing and had to be shelfed indefinitely...its hard funding a project on ya own.

To all my low-budget and no-budget cats out there.....Take a lesson from each of these cats in regards to professionalism and quality of music, they are the examples we need to follow to elevate bay rap to a higher level

from what I can tell these cat are from the Point

just wanted to ad a few things to lcear it up. i was born and raised 21 years in bayview h.p., three bloks from cnadlestick and i now go by RAP4RIGHTS. the other mc who makes up the group cipher minds is OSIRUS who is from Hayward cali.

As far as the tracks go, those are the first batch of tracks that are done but in my opinion the next 5-10 are way way sicker, with the exception of our single summer daze that folks really seem to dig....anyway thanks again for the support. hopefully we cna get this video thing movin as well as finishin the last couple tracks so we can start performin and shit

that cover i put the new cd in is form my debut solo which was limited limited edition but i still have a few. kinda of arush job album but thers sum bangers on that too...

and the line is : ask vik b-cuzz he told me the truth- you spent ya lunch money to get yougn cellski and dre dog in the booth" and yah it is sooooo pitifully tru about alot of cats

Mike got the new Mac Dre one and it is 4.15x funnier and so much better. We gonna start dyin on Friday....Word? You ain't NEVER leavin 3rd?
