I think its time to bring up a topic that has been buggin me for a while. Southern cali folks where ya at on this one. When I first moved down here I saw something coo when I was chillin at my work. I said, "Damn that was hella tight" Everybody including some of the younger customers stopped what they were doing and looked at me. They then proceeded to say, "DID YOU JUST SAY HELLA?.....YOU FROM NORTHERN CALI HUH" I was like ya why? They then said no one out here uses that word except when someone from northern cali comes here. I found this to be true no matter where I go. I used that word alot in northern cali so I find myself slippin and saying it out here alot. Cats just look at you like your gay and shit lol. Sometimes I hear folks say it but for the most part people look at you like you just cussed in church and shit.

Yeah many people around here say that word sometimes; I even use that word too. Aint nothin wrong wit that, it aint offensive or anything. But techically, all them airhead white boys & surf dudes always use so cali words like "dude", "right on", "sweet", "nice", & "gnarly". Some of em sound a lil overboard to me but I sometimes use em myself when I kick it with em. Nevertheless, dont even trip about that yall, just be yourself & keep it crackin'. Aint nothin wrong wit all that, theyre all just very common regional slangterms

Hella is a nor cal word from what i understand although i'm sure a lot of different peps use it...i know alot of so cal pep don't like it...my buddy was in a bar down in deigo and saw some dude with a shirt that said, "Nor Cal hella sucks", and the hella was crossed out...its not just a white boy word either (although that is the majority) cuz i hear Nor Cal rappers such as Andre Nickitina, X-Raided, and Hollow Tip to say a few names....I know for sure down here in mississippi when i say it which is a lot...mutha fuckers be lookin at me HELLA crazy!

I've been hearin people say "hella" since I was 13 years old...I use to say it, don't say it much anymore, but people don't look at me funny when I say it...If you say it, that's fine, I don't see why anyone cares....

I've been using the word hella for a long time now but to be honest Im not sure where I herd if from. But yeah that word aint new out here. You probably just said it around a gang of squares

Not only I have been usin/hearin that word for a hella long time..I ve been usin/hearin it for a hecka long time....As long as I can remember I always heard it was it a Bay Area word that and hecka....fold
