This is a pretty good review from Budd over at Madesicc:
-The Book-Just an intro. Sounds like a movie sample, not sure which movie, but a decent way to open the cd.
-Survivor (Produced By Phonk Beta)-Beta layed down an epic track, gang of sounds rollin around in here, overall the beat has a huge sound to it, choir sounds, drums are hard and sway from the common kick/snare/kick/snare simple drums that beta frequently drops. Only problem with this beat is the rolling hi-hats. These are being used ALL OVER the fucking radio. The track would've been perfect with some grimey 8th or 16th note hi-hats (these 32nd, maybe 64th). Flow is hardcore. Co spillin his heart out, inspirational style track, this the type of shit I was looking forward to. (MINUS THE CRUNK HIHATS) One of the best off this cd.
-Break Camp (Produced By AXIS, for Real Talk INC)-Another hard beat. Thinking when hearing this, Axis a beast. Trig style beat, piano centered, somewhat simple but effective. Once again though, the hi-hats are annoying. Don't remember siccmade using this type of hi-hat, the high end heavy tin sounding crunk hihats. Luckily they drop out for the hook, which is aimed towards somebody who fucked over the label. That's what "Break Camp" is. The beat evolves through the track and with the simple piano line stays fresh throughout. A little like "The Edge" by loki. Nice track overall.
-Wata (Produced By CNI)-wow. this beat is all over the place, seems to have no backbone so to speak. No apparent structure, even the drums feel random. This shines through into the lyrics, the flows are, overall, sporratic. Lyrics more simple than the earlier tracks. A skip is not needed, but due to the track having no real direction (It's hard even to tell when the hook is coming in, the verse just ends and there it is) I feel that future listens will not include this track.
-Stress (Produced By Crookwood)-Beat is beautiful and deep. You can hear from the first keystroke that this track will have meaning. Nicci Blacc drops a clean, simple and sweet singing hook. The need to sing along comes with this hook. Co takes the first verse, this is the first track I really felt the mix was off. The piano should have been a bit quieter and eq'd better. Not a problem during the hook as Nicci sings right along with the piano, but during the verse-the vocals feel like they're fighting with the beat in oppose to flowing with it. Lyrical content hits close to home, each rapper dropping lines about what stresses them out. Crookwood and P-Folks both shine hard, crookwood IMO holds the best verse on this track. Both the others go hard though, overall very heartfelt track.
-Picture Dis (Produced By DJ Epic)-Beat is alright. Theres a sample in here, but the beat doesn't revolve around the sample...simple synthbass line, the hook is the sample. Not sure where it's from though. This is the first track I skipped. Feels like a filler track. Cd would have been just fine without it. Not much else to say about it. Nothing great about it, gets annoying almost.
-Tec 9's an 44's (Produced By Axis Of Real Talk inc)-This beat is hard from the beginning. Nice beat. Pizz Strings, Heavy Piano line, Strong keys, and a very slammy bass line. Beat is WAY too predominant in the mix The keys in particular are too loud, hard to pay attention to the lyrics with the keys ding ding dinging in your right ear. Keys played like this, in most cases, are supposed to be a piece that HELPS the beat ride, in oppose to completely carrying the beat. Its all in the mix, and the mix is off. Somewhat simple lyrics from all rappers, good lines but nothing that jumps out as amazing. Liked bleezo's verse best.
-Don't Hurt No More (Produced By The Shape)-Daamn, this beat sets a very good mood for a CO track. Shape came through with a nice beat, CO drops some deep shit on this track, doesn't say the word suicidal but pretty much thats what I'm getting from this track, he's spitting from the "I'm DEAD" p.o.v. Lynch drops some deep shit as well, about his mothers death, child's birth, life in general. My only problem with this track, is the FUCKING SAMPLE. "DONT HURT NO MOOOOORE" from an old track, chipmunked the fuck up like kanye. Why not have D-DUBB singing this? He could have made this track, instead they had a lame-o sample, playing through the entire track, every 2-4 bars, even in the verses, those damn 4 words. Not bad enough to make me skip the track, this is a very well done track overall, but enough to take away from it the title "best track off the cd"
-Find A Way (Produced By CNI)-Wow. This beat is on some wierd shit. a couple sweeping synths during the verses, a synth line for the hook, but the main melody throughout the track is an odd sounding plucked/muted guitar that's only missing in most of the last verse. In it's place is some dumbass, freestyle sounding synth with a filter on it...odd. With such an out there beat I can't really even pay attention to the lyrics. Don't see myself ever getting used to this beat. insta-SKIP
-Lost-Just a skit. Dude praying to GOD.
-40 hataz (Produced By Axis of Real Talk Inc)-This beat belongs on the next Mega Man game, final boss battle. CO spits on 'haters' aint feelin this track. First track I'm not interested in by Axis.
-What's It Gonna Be (Produced By Phonk Beta and Brotha Lynch Hung)-Malakia has the hook. I thought it was a sample from the early 90's track of the same name. Sounds weird. Like they've detuned her voice or something. The verse part of the beat is very clean, piano, bass, drums, strings very emotional, and CO rips it up accordingly. Lynch got the second verse, I like the mood of this track. Decent verse, his delivery is stronger than some of the recent shit I've heard from him, as it is on every track (except that wata) he's on on this cd. This track at first felt a bit experimental, after a few listens it goes hard, one of the best on the cd most definetely. Co's last verse also proper...the hook aint BADD just coulda been better, doesn't match the strength of the beat or any of the verses.
-That's Just Me (Produced By CNI)-Starts out with a simplistic sampled-sounding scale, after the intro...think "laffy taffy" odd that co's 2nd rhyme is "I'm in the game like pac man". Can't get over this video game sounding beat. Skip. Come up with your own review if you want a review of this track
-Put Tha Guns Down (Produced By Da Kat)-Damn near the same beat as "Stress" piano line EXACT. Which once again runs the beat. Bass hits hard, CO talking, not suprisingly by the title of the track, about puttin the guns down, let the children live type shit. I like this track, a different direction then the rest of the cd, yet not contradicting the rest of it, CO never comes off as bragging about shootin people. Third verse is the best IMO, about growing up in the ghetto, selling drugs, robbing etc...hook is proper by Brian Keith, singing hook that fits the track well.
-Live 1 Time (produced Byd Reggie Hilding)-beat is nice, too fast though, revolves around what sounds like a harp, on the 16th notes. CO drops the usual CO shit...nothing really stands out about this track, but not really a skipper, although the beat does get somewhat repetitive with the harp being ever-present, and never-changing. eh 6/10 ish (5 and under is skip)
-Anotha Chapta (Produced By Axis of Real Talk Inc)-Once again, HARD beat from Axis. The rolling hi-hats aren't my style, would have liked to see something different with the hats but eh its not really that annoying, I'm just used to hearing it on mainstream radio bullshit. Already dropped a review on this track, this track in the top 3 off the cd. Lynch's best verse, the beat aint repetitve but it's not too cluttered or ever-changing either. 8/10
-I Didn't Believe (Produced By The Shape)-beat is nice, calm/laid back, CO spillin heart. One of the stronger tracks off the cd. Hook is aight, with CO singing, and rapping at the same time. Kind of hard to understand what both are saying as they're layered over each other and both in the same general tone. CO rips the simpler beats like this one better than the more complex beats.
-Fly Away (Produced By Brotha Lynch Hung)-Beat is not like most Lynch product. Sampled, almost has a jazz feel to it, laid back nice mood. Rappin bout death, musicians who died, an damn there's a gang of em. More of an 'embrace death' track without being depressing. At first the beat sounded a bit different, espessially coming from Lynch. It's not really dark at all, actually uplifting. A couple more listens I'm sure this'll be my favorite track off the cd.
-I Got Problems Produced By Phonk Beta)-Very nice beat, rhodes, keys, bassline, simple drums with hihats that actually roll WITH the beat. don't see how you can have a melody around the 8th notes and have a 32nd or even 64th note hihat pattern. Anyway, this track is beautiful. I feel more heart in this track than the rest, which is saying a lot, cause although I haven't in my reviews went into depth about the lyrics, he has in this cd been very emotional, very deep and reflective. Which IS what I was looking for. This my favorite track off the cd. Nicci Blacc and Melissa Whitnel (who is she?) both singing on the hook fit PERFECT together. This more of the type of shit I was expecting. Some eye-opening shit, fuck even without his lyrics, this beat is amazing. Although nothing too original, it aint cookie cutter and aint experimental like the CNI tracks...fuck it it's new PHONK shit. full of heart, moreso than anything else I've heard on this cd. This track up there with SUICIDE NOTE, TRIED TO SHOOT, ANYBODY LISTENING, ROCK BOTTOM, EVERYWHERE I GO, WHY HATE...I can keep going...unlike a few tracks off this cd, theres not enough IMO to say about this one. Had the rest of the whole cd been wack, I'd be content with my purchase for this track alone. If nobody else feels this shit...aint trippin it touched me. Feel this shit to the fullest. PROPS to COS.
