I was just wondering how many of ya'll weight train on the regular, what supplements you use, and what type of work out regimen you're on?

I've always been an athletic guy but never really got into weight training until last year.

I stand 6'1 160lbs and I'm trying to bulk up for the first time in my life over these upcoming winter months. From Sept. to February I'm going to be on a pretty strict diet/weight training routine.

I'll give the quick run down...

50g Wellements Premium Pro-Rated protein shake in the morning. This product has 6 different types of protein isolate (3 types of whey, pure egg white protein and casein protein) which all have different absorption rates over a 4.5 hour period.

Roughly 2 hours later eat a meal high in protein and carbs (chicken and rice/tuna fish with crackers/bread), spend about an hour in the gym immediately followed by another 50g Whey protein shake. I'm also considering a weight gainer for post-workout instead of simple whey protein.

about an hour after my post-workout shake I'll probably eat whatever is for 'dinner' or make some more chicken with rice or eat more fish.

then before I sleep I'll once again drink another Wellements shake for overnight recovery. Wake up and do it all over again the next day.

I'll also be using two BSM dietary supplements- Cellmass and N.O.Xplode. These are really the only two products I've used that I feel safe with, and am confident when I stop using them wont make me lose my physique. The Cellmass is ethyl ester creatine which helps muscle recovery and density, helping you to lift more weight more often. The N.O.Xplode has a complex blend of B vitamins, nitric oxide, and caffeine that help to keep your work out as efficient as possible.

Typically I'll have a 3 day routine with one day off afterward.

Day 1) Chest/Back
Day 2) Shoulders/Traps
Day 3) Biceps/Triceps

Abdominals can be worked in pretty much every day, maybe take one or two days off a week for them. Considering doing my legs on day 4, but a 7 day work out routine can put me at higher risk for panic/anxiety attacks. I'll also go to a two-day upper body routine once I cycle off of cell mess every three weeks.

once I cash my financial aid check I'll be dropping about $110.00 on the cell mass/n.o.xplode. Cell mass will last a good two months and n.o.xplode just one. The 6lb bag of Wellements protein costs about $40.00 and at two shakes a day should last me a month, plus another 15 bucks for 2 lbs of whey protein. On top of that I'll be stocking up on jasmine rice and chicken breast, as well as different poultry/fish. Of course I'll be drinking about 2 gallons of water per day to help build muscle, and eating different types of fruit to keep natural sugars in my diet.

It's not going to be cheap, but with that plan I'm hoping to make 180-190 by January 1st of 2009.

Whats the deal with you folks?

5'9 & 165

I go to the gym about 4 or 5 times a week. Session lasts about an hour and a half. Chest & Tricpes - Biceps, Shoulders & Back - Abs - Legs

I hate doing legs, but it has to be done. I'm not captain buff or anyting (as you can tell by my height and weight), just lean.

Supps
I've tried all the protein out there and Ive stuck with Syntax Nectar, the Strawberry Kiwi. It's the best one out there that you can just mix with straight water. Throw in some Glutamine here and there. I try not to take too much Glut, it messes with my stomach.

150mg Tribulus a day.
75mg DHEA.
A ton of vitamins (Multi, A, B, C, E, Fish Oil, etc.)

I can go into more detail, but thats the jist of it....

I work out 4 days a week... I'm 5'9" 185 right now... My weight was about 200 lbs. earlier this year but I've been cuttin this summer... plus I fucked up my shoulder so had to lay off heavy weight for a minute

I take Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Whey Protein post workout and in between meals, and Syntha-6 protein at night before I go to sleep

I use CE2 Ethyl Ester Creatine... also take Amino Acids (Amino Burst 3000 from GNC) and Mega Men Sport Multivitamins from GNC

right now my routine is:

Day 1: Legs, Abs
Day 2: Chest, Back
Day 3: Traps, shoulders, abs
Day 4: Bis, Tris, forearms

And for the guy who started this thread... I would highly recommend throwing some legs in your routine if you wanna bulk up... you're gonna see way more results if you do some squats/leg press with some heavy weight... that's gonna boost up your testosterone levels and get you way more swole... most people don't wanna work legs, but they're really the key to putting on mass

Agreeing with the squats and the legs. It sucks cuz you cant walk right for a couple days, pain to sit on the toilet or get in and out of a car, but you have to do it. Lunges, etc.

It really does boost your test, but I take trib and other stuff to boost that. Not into dball, anadrol, etc (aka roids), but natural "testosterone" boosters Im alright with.

If your goal is to bulk up then hit heavy weights, less reps. Instead of bieng able to do 10-15 and 5 sets, pick up enough weight to do 8 reps, 4 or 5 sets.
Do about 5 movements. EAT A LOT OF FOOD. That lightweight diet you typed out won't do it. You want to intake more calories than you burn, not the opposite.

yeah I've got that scoped out. I recall looking online last year at this website and it basically told me I need to be on a 4,000-6,000 calorie a day diet to put on any weight.

And thanks for the leg work out advice. I didn't realize it would affect testosterone levels in such a way.

Basically in the summer I do 3-4 sets of 10 reps on whatever weight I'm lifting, but as you said during the winter I'll be on more weight/less reps.

I've also decided I need to pick up a multi-vitamin and fish oil (for my joints)

Not a big fan of testosterone enhancers/estrogen blockers.

My boy was telling me I should do a cycle or two of monohydrate creatine to get myself going, what are your thoughts on that?

and can ya'll suggest any other lean foods high in protein outside of chicken breast and tuna?

Ya'll got any food suggestions?

Train about 4-5 day's a week.

Typically 1 body part a week execpt, 1 day a week i combine 2 muscle groups together. I constantly switch it up so basically alway's trading which 2 muscle groups to combine. currently im 203lbs and 5'10" My eating routine is pretty similar to everybody's here clean food (cheat every now and then) eat about 4-6 meals a day. Every morning i wake up to a protein shake @ 4:30 am (trying out Muscle Mike right now) followed by breakfast @ 7:am.

My supplements currently are Animal Pak (multivitamin, base of my weift lifting diet) Animal Pump 20 min b4 i work out (basically kind of like a Nitic Oxide) and Animal Stack 45min b4 my work out (this helps to naturally boost ur test levels) I tried Stack b4 and had tremendous results didnt expect much from it but it blew my mind how much i grew and how much energy i would get b4 i hit the gym....The only thing about using the Stack for me, is right after my work out im completely exhausted and crash after i eat/shower for a few hours, which fucks up my sleep schedule. Oh well. i've been using Animal products and i like what the results from it. After my wife gives birth im going to cycle Stack or M-Stack again (M-stack is for aiding in mass gain.....Believe me it works, shit made me constantly hungry and i would eat like a fuckin animal...lol)
I've been supplementing Universals BCAA amino acids and so far so good. Well that's mostly it for me it's hard to concentrate so much on my workout's all the time tho, 3 kids and 1 on the way, so i'll probably take about a week or 2 off when the baby come, and go @ it again.

On top of what everyone else said..

Lift with free weights..
true...

just gotta be careful, especially if you've just started lifting... make sure you're not trying to start off with too much weight, and that you got your form down pat

you don't want an injury... I fucked up my rotator cuff and it set me back a lot

As far as ur stomach "pooch" is concerned, u can do all the ab workout's in the world and still wont see any results until u diet and do plenty of cardio. With that said dont think ur ab workouts arent working im sure they are, u just wont physically see the results until u shed the fat off, that is why i suggest proper diet (i went on the low carb/high protein diet a few years back, and did the trick. U just have to play with the carb intake) Cardio i did 15-20 min on the treadmill everyday for 4-5 day's a week and after a few months seen the results! With the low carb diet be very cautious that u dont put ur body in a state of ketosis. Ill try and find some info on dieting for u and post it later....

strenght train if you wanna trade fat for muscle, youll lose the weight while building muscle all up. I'm doing brazilian jiu jitsu right now and it doesnt look like it but thats the best workout, first few weeks i was sore everywhere.. but you get stronger and use your whole body. I lost about 15 pounds so far in 2 months.

Nothing wrong with test supps. Trib will only bring you to where you are supposed to be, if you are deficient in test. It wont go over the limit you should be at. Not trying to sway you or anything, but if you really want a legit test booster, tribulus is the way to go.

I have a friend who did monohydrate creatine and then got kidney stones. Just one example though. Just drink enough water and you should be fine.

Sleep is really important too, which is what I lack in. I dont sleep enough, at all.

You need to eat some junk once in a while, despite what anyone tells you. Burger King once every 2 weeks or so is actually a good thing. If your body doesnt get fatty foods once in a while, it holds onto its own fat because it doesnt know when the next time it will get it. The body is weird like that.
