Middleweight and light-heavyweight fighters are invited to attend an open tryout for the upcoming 11th season of "The Ultimate Fighter" on Monday, Oct. 26.

The tryouts for the UFC and Spike TV's reality series takes place at the Renaissance Los Angeles Airport Hotel in California.

Although not officially announced, "TUF 11" is expected to debut in April with a live finale in June.

While direct referrals (from UFC fighters and past "TUF" cast members) lead to many bookings for the show, UFC and Spike TV officials have also used the open tryouts to recruit countless additional cast members. Season-eight winner Amir Sadollah, for example, earned his way onto the show through an open tryout despite no professional record.

The Oct. 26 tryouts coincide with UFC 104, which takes place Saturday, Oct. 24, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

As for "TUF 11," aspiring cast members must be 21 years old and have a professional record. Registration begins at 8 a.m. PT at the Renaissance Los Angeles Airport Hotel (9620 Airport Blvd.). The mandatory application can be downloaded at UFC.com.

"The Ultimate Fighter" debuted in early 2005 and is considered the main force that brought MMA into the mainstream. The reality show has launched more than 100 UFC careers while producing former champions such as Rashad Evans and Matt Serra and perennial contenders such as Diego Sanchez, Kenny Florian, Mike Swick, Joe Stevenson, Michael Bisping, Joe Lauzon and Nate Diaz.
