Although the primary open audition process concluded last week, aspiring UFC fighters still have an opportunity to make the cast for the upcoming 11th season of "The Ultimate Fighter."
"TUF 11" begins taping early next year and debuts in April with middleweight and light heavyweight fighters.
Applications, though, must be received in less than a week.
The deadline is next Monday, Nov. 9. Applications can be downloaded at UFC.com.
As MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) reported last week, open tryouts for "TUF 11" took place Oct. 26 at the Renaissance Los Angeles Airport Hotel in California (check out our recap and photo gallery). Former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Bobby Southworth, who appeared on the first season of "TUF," and fellow UFC veterans Nick Thompson and Logan Clark were among the nearly 300 fighters who attended the open audition.
While such a public event is helpful, it's not necessarily mandatory for aspiring cast members if an application (and fight footage) are submitted.
The final cast for "TUF 11" will be determined during the next few weeks. Coaches have not been announced.
"The Ultimate Fighter" debuted in early 2005 and is considered the main force that brought MMA into the mainstream. The reality show has launched more than 100 UFC careers while producing former champions such as Rashad Evans and Matt Serra and perennial contenders such as Diego Sanchez, Kenny Florian, Mike Swick, Joe Stevenson, Michael Bisping, Nate Diaz and Joe Lauzon.
