How do you know or measure which cats here on the mic got street credibility? I mean some of us can't be there in the hood knowing if these mc's are really from the streets, really endured the struggles they rap about, really own the stuff they claim they own (benzs, ice, guns, etc)...I've always wondered how important is street credibility to you in a rapper?...I mean what if he got skills he can flow nice and he's from the suburbs (we aren't talking about kobeweaksauce either)....does the fact he's not from the streets discourage you from listening to him?...I mean we listen to mac mall, e-40, richie rich etc...but how do we know for a fact these artists are who they say they are?...just something on my mind....sorry if I'm rambling...but you get what i'm saying...:classic:

I've said it before and I'll say it again...but I think rap is ENTERTAINMENT. I'm sure a lot of rap cats don't live the life they speak upon, or possess the shit they say they do. It's all about music and entertaining...

It's all about entertainment, who gives a fuck...

I know cats from the ghetto and from the coo parts of town that been through the same shit...muthafuckaz tryna kill em, jackin em, slangin...all that shit. It's where your heart is like V-Boy said.

Remember, 2Pac once said..."As long as you stay true to your heart, you can go wherever your heart wants you to go"....and that's real talk.

To me music is all entertainment. I'll buy a record off the fakest suburban kid talkin about poppin glocks and shit if his album is tight... I won't necessarily respect him but good music is good music... But I can feel why a lot of people don't wanna hear it.

NUFF SAID!......besides all the good points on here, about rap being entertainment......that pretty much raps it up.....

as guce would say...

"if it ain't real, it ain't official"

and you won't be able to really tell who is bout it and who isn't...just take they music for what it's worth...sooner or later, the fakes will come out.....

To me street credibility is COMPLETELY IRRELEVANT! What it really comes down to is are you keeping it real or not? For example, if your a 22B Norteno, then you can rep your gang and your hood all you want. That's what you do in real life. If your a white kid from the east bay, don't rap about how your in a gang unless you are in a gang. If you arent gang affiliated, if you arent known on the turf, that doesnt matter. But then you rap about other shit.

"see in this rap game, either you make it or you don't / ain't no half stepping rappin, either you wack or you dope / everything I touch is classic, and Instant Hit on the spot / the days are over when you bragged about slanging rocks / and packing glocks, smaking lips sounding stupid / if you real about the shit, then you'd be out there really doing it / forget talking about it, or banging it on wax / cause the only thing I'm worried about is coming out with the hardest tracks" Cuddie Cut / Instant Hit / Legendary comp....coming soon

street credibility and being real.... a dude like del the funky homosapien is a nerdy type dude, but he's real about it, he's down with cool cats and he dont act hard and front... and so if you ask some real dudes in the know about del, they'll be like "dudes a little weird, but he's cool"... he is himself, keeps it real and true to who he his, aint a punk, and dudes respect that...

on the flip side, if you flappin and jawsin about what you do and how you are, just fronting and believing your own fabrications, dude has no credibility or respect from anyone, and trying to prove them wrong by acting a fool and wildin out only makes you look more like a frontin ass dude...

Street credibility only matters if you're claimin to live the street life. Being real dont mean being from the hood...being real means BEING REAL. Spit what you know, and you'll get my respect.

OVER ALL I BELIEVE STREET CREDABILITY HAS NOTHIN TO DO WITH HOW YOUR SALES OR FANS WILL COME... WHEN I 1ST HEARD HOLLOW TIP, I LIKED HIM CUZ OF HIS STYLE, HIS VOICE AND DELIVARY, I COULD CARE LESS IF HE REALLY WAS A CRIP, OR SHOT PEOPLE, THE SHIT IS HARD... SAME WITH SPICE, KILLA TAY, ETC.... IF THAT KOBE CAT HAD A TITE FLOW AND VOICE, YAL PROLLY WOULD LIKE HIS SHIT, BUT DO TO THE FACT HE LOOK FUNNY, AND HIS SKILLS ARE WEAK, YAL RIDE ON HIM..... I THINK APPEARANCE AND DELIVERY IS WHAT ATTRACTS PEOPLE TO AN ARTIST....

NOW AS FOR OTHER RAPPERS, STREET CREDABILITY IS A FACTOR, CUZ SOME CATS THAT IS REALLY DOIN THE SHIT, MIGHT KNOW YOU AINT DOIN HALF THE SHIT YOU TALK ABOUT, AND YOU MAY HAVE A PROBLEM WALKIN THE STREETS AROUND PEOPLE WHO KNOW THE TRUTH BOUT YOU...

BUT THEN AGAIN LIKE DRE SAID IN "THE SHOW" ITS ALL ENTERTAINMENT!!!!

IM HERE TO ENTERTAIN YOU, AND WELL AS ANY OTHER ARTIST, IF WE AINT ENETRTAINING YOU, THEN WE AINT DOIN OUR JOB....
