Any of you Reason users ever attend anything like this? I've been to a couple different ones where they were demoing the product and always learned something new. This one is more of an all day seminar that will go more in depth and also has guest producers. its $35 to attend. I'm just happy that I'll finally be able to go to one and bring my computer, all the other times I went to the demos I had a desktop so I would just have to remember tips, now I can actually try them as they describe it.

I went.....$35 isn't alot of money, I was more disappointed that I didn't have the money at first, but when I finally did have money it was sold out....I decided to just go and see if I could convince them to let me in at the door, I got there and there was already someone waiting cuz he had a prepaid credit card but they needed a card with your name on it...after waiting for dumbass long they finally gave in and let us pay to get in. I got the DVD (that I might upload sometime) and a nifty notepad & pen and snacks and water for my $35....

anyways, the shit was pretty coo, they went in depth about the regroove mixer and how that breathes life into real structured sounds & loops......like you can take the feel of some sampled drums from a rex file and apply that feel to the bassline & synths that you created....also Peff went into the Thor and was explaining that and like just scraping the surface about some of the tricks (maybe there's more on his dvd).....Tommy Coster Jr is the son of one of the guys in Santana, he also produced with Dre and made some shit for Eminem and other artists.

DJ Khalil also worked with Dr Dre, he showed a track he made for Dre's album that Dre ended up sending to Jay-Z to write for him, and Jay instead wrote his own track for Kingdom Come. The track was "I Made It". He showed the Reason file and kinda broke down what he did for it. He was saying how he pretty much just uses Reason and nothing else, he started with hardware (ASR-10, MPC, etc....) but now just plays everything on Reason but might get some people to replay things. Like for the "I Made It" track, he worked with some other artists that recorded the singing, keys & trumpet and then chopped that up and threw it into a NN-XT. He also did a bassline but had someone actually play bass guitar after.

I think it was pretty insightful as a whole, I'm not mad at the money I spent.....and you trippin off Berkeley to downtown SF being a mission.....lol
